Well he can at least hold the back of his head when the match is over...is that too much to ask here?

Come on now. Many Raw episodes have gone off the air with Cena grimacing in pain as he crawls to the ropes to get one last look at his opponent.

Don't act as if every time Cena wrestles he runs around the ring with smile on his face, flexing his muscles.

The original post is not even worth responding it, it's so hilariously poorly argued. My pick is probably Edge, but I haven't liked him since like 2000. During his run as the number one guy on Smackdown, he was widely heralded as one of, if not the, best in the WWE. However I can't think of any great matches he had from late-2006 when he joined Smackdown to when he was injured; that, and he was never even a safe bet for a good TV match, unlike guys like Finlay or Matt Hardy during that time. Since he returned as a face, it's pretty much agreed upon that he's not that great, so that's good I guess.

You can't think of one good great Edge match? Seriously?

Armaggedon 2007
Edge vs Undertaker vs Batista

Royal Rumble 2008
Edge vs Rey Mysterio

No Way Out 2008
Edge vs Rey Mysterio

One Night Stand 2008
Edge vs Undertaker

Great American Bash 2008
Edge vs Triple H

Summerslam 2008
Edge vs Undertaker Hell In A Cell

Armageddon 2009
Edge vs Jeff Hardy vs Triple H

No Way Out 2009
Edge's performance in the RAW chamber

Backlash 2009
Edge vs Cena Last Man Standing

Extreme Rules 2009
Edge vs Jeff Hardy TLC

Those are quite a few great ppv matches he's put on in recent years. I don't think you know what you're talking about.

Cena's short term selling is among the best in the WWE.

The reason he doesn't sell long term isn't that he can't, its because he's not supposed to. It's just the way the match is booked. He supposed to make a comeback and stand tall in the middle of the ring after the match.

Yeah i get that he has to stand tall in the middle of the ring at the end. That's all well and good. But he is made out to be indestructible to a certain degree but he is in fact human. And yes i get that, That's how he is booked. But when you get the likes of Batista battering the shit out of you with a chair then please sell it like it's a steel chair not a piece of sponge.

I get that he is the big strong hero and needs to come out on top, But also he is human after all. And it really wouldn't harm him to sell a bit more long term.

I dont dislike Cena i just think his selling is weak and needs work but thats just my opinion.

Edge vs Rey at the Rumble went like 10 minutes when Rey was injured. That wasn't a great match at all.

Rey
Jericho
Edge

Those are the absolute best, now that HBK is done, Rey is an absolute champ at making people look good. Edge can bump like a motherfucker too.

Agreed, but that's 3 out of a roster of about 50. That's my point, only a few can really sell convincingly. Others are like ow ow ow cut my hand ow.

He pretty much just listed Edge matches and called them great. I do admit that I loved Cena/Edge from Backlash 2009, though. Other than that...yeah, I can list PPV matches from any wrestler, but that doesn't make them great.

Every match I listed was great. o_O
Edge-619 from RR was great simply because Rey was injured and they were able to put on that performance.

To be fair:
One Night Stand 2008
Edge vs Undertaker

Summerslam 2008
Edge vs Undertaker Hell In A Cell

Backlash 2009
Edge vs Cena Last Man Standing

Extreme Rules 2009
Edge vs Jeff Hardy TLC

Each of those are around 4 star matches, they are pretty great. So he is correct there, throw in the Taker TLC match and that's five truly great matches. Edge isn't the greatest singles wrestler, but throw him in a gimmick match and he's only answering to Cena in terms of consistency.

Yeah, I gave Edge credit for his awesome match against Cena at Backlash. His Hell in a Cell match was cool really only for the callback/revenge spots that it had; other than that it was a lot of plodding between spots. Edge/Hardy in the TLC was a mixed bag in that there were tons of cool spots that built up well, but it never seemed like either guy was ever trying to win the match. They were just setting up for the next big spots, and it made the whole thing feel contrived as fuck. Same with his ladder match with 'Taker, really.

Both Edge/Mysterio matches were pretty weak, and his match against Triple H was SOOOOO underwhelming that it virtually eliminated any possibility of speculation for the two to have a match at Wrestlemania 25.

Edge can really only deliver in gimmick matches, and that's fine, unless the same patterns goes on for five years, and feuds eventually start to lose any sort of meaning because they go through the same formula typical of Raw vs Smackdow on X-Box, where you start with a singles match, move to a No DQ Match! then go on to a LADDERS MATCH!, and finish it off with a HELL IN A CELL HOLY FUUUUUCK THIS FEUD IS THE BEST FEUD EVER. It worked with Matt Hardy, it was too long with John Cena, it was oversatured with Undertaker (probably due to the Undertaker coming off the heels of a nearly identically laid out feud with Batista), and by the time that he was going against Jeff Hardy, it was about time for him to tear something.

And I don't think it's necessarily fair to draw comparisons to Cena in this situation. People hate on Cena because they find him "lame" and "corny." Virtually all critique of Cena's in-ring skills has vanished, unless you're a fucking idiot who makes a thread for the sole purpose of perpetuating unwarranted Cena hate. Waitwhat? Anyway, most of Edge's critique comes in the form of the work that he's put on since his return. Though I suspect that will all change when Edge enters into his SUPER AWESOME feud with Chris Jericho, and they slowly build their matches to become more and more gimmicky, thus somehow more and more personal.

^pretty sure that SUPER AWESOME feud has been third-wheeled by Swagger.

I agree about how Edge performs better in gimmick matches. However, I have no Edge hate. I just don't think he is capable of a 5 star ZOMG Wrestlemania main event tier match. I think that a legit main eventer that has been in the main event for 4 or 5 years should be able to put on a decent non-gimmick pure, singles match (a la a nice Cena match)

Swagger has not done jackshit. He's not even an upper midcarder. He's just a midcarder who won the title cos they realized everyone was sick of the same hot shotting of the title over and over. So either this is temporary, or they're going to try and build Swagger, right from the very bottom. He does not deserve to be mentioned in the same context as Cena and Edge.
