Who is the Authority?

Ever since the return of Triple in 2001 as the new COO of WWE, the lines of authority have become blurry and bleed into one another. Made worse when Stephanie McMahon joined him and they collectively began calling themselves the Authority. Which now begs question what exactly is the role of the General Manager? Every week on Raw we see the Authority making matches for Raw, SmackDown and even WrestleMania. We barely ever see Brad Maddox anymore. Even when it's not Triple H or Stephanie, it's now Kane, the Director of Operations. What is a Director of Operations and isn't that just a General Manager or Commissioner? Do you think the days of the General Manager are over? Do you think there's just a few too many cooks in the kitchen now? If so, would you prefer they went back to just having the General Managers run the shows? And do they need two with the brand extension being over? Or should WWE give up on the notion of General Managers and just let the Authority run things? Do we even need to see them every week or just when it's warranted? And what is your opinion on Kane? Is he doing well in his new role or should we scrap that, too?

I honestly believe Hogan will stay after WM and be in an authority role to counter The Authority. First thing he will do is fire Maddox as GM and hire somebody new to be GM, perhaps somebody wronged by the Authority in the past such as Dusty Rhodes.

How's he gonna get that role? Vince? hell Vince can do it himself if he wanted to I don't really see why he'd have Hogan battle them when he could do just as much as Hogan can, well hell even more than Hogan could.

But we really donb't need any GM's anymore, I mean like you said Triple H and Steph on are Raw and Smackdown making the matches, makes the big PPV matches, really only see one of the GM's every so often it seems anyway. I know Brad was on the Pre-Show like two or three weeks ago and that's it. Just slowly fade them out, or have them two just out right fire the GM's and say they are not needed. When they finally do finish this up they can bring in two new GM's or one GM to run both shows.

I don't imagine Trips & Steph will be on TV forever, they'll be like Vince and take time away to do businessy stuff. So there is a need for an authority figure when they're not around. But just one. We don't need Kane, Vickie & Maddox all making decisions, just one.

I still say the anonymous Raw GM was the best authority figure in years. Look at all the above, all clear heels. Anon had no clear alignment, couldn't get drawn into feuds, simply popped up, announced matches, then left.

Unfortunately they ruined the Anon GM storyline with the worst angle ever. Actually second worst. The worst was the revealing of Mr. McMahon's son. Notice the pattern?

I agree with one GM to run the show when Trips and Steph are not there but I hated the anonymous Raw GM after awhile because I could not stand listening to Cole every time he got up. Can I have your attention please.


While I like Kane in the role he has had I do think he will be kicked out at some point and there could be some dissent within the group but not after some if the guys align with Bryan and help bring them down.
