Well...you could write a list as long as your leg for this...but for me...
it has to be Sasha Banks.
Now before I start I understand the wrestling community as a whole has
a mixed opinion on Sasha...but I personally like her...as a performer.
Her treatment on the main roster has been...well...almost sadistic on
the part of the WWE. Every time she has been "elevated" in some way...
she is quickly lowered back down into the pack...and I don't really get.
She has the look, the composure, the in-ring skills & (when not reciting
main roster garbage) the mic skills...
BUT...it almost appears as if someone
behind the scenes has been deliberately fucking with her.
Let's go all the way back to Wrestlemania 32 & that triple threat match...
where she was held out of the ring by an elderly Ric Flair in a finish that
ruined the entire match & still pisses me off to this day.
Then the WWE takes Sasha off TV for 3 months or so because the crowds
are literally chanting "We want Sasha!!!" & the WWE wants all the focus on
Charlotte.
Now before I continue...I love Charlotte Flair...
BUT I will gladly admit that
she has been over pushed to a frankly ridiculous degree.
So we skip forward to Battleground 2016 and Sasha & Bayley defeat
Charlotte & Dana Brooke & the next night Sasha defeats Charlotte for
the Women's title in an awesome match & it seemed "The Boss" had
finally arrived on the main roster
Well No...she hadn't.
27 days later Sasha would drop the title back to Charlotte at SummerSlam
& so began the game of "Hot Potato" where Sasha would defeat Charlotte
on RAW...but then Charlotte would win the title back on pay per view.
Now I enjoyed this feud because:
a). The matches were solid to great (the best being the RAW matches...WTF?!)
&
b). I actually believed there was true animosity between these two women...
and from what I've seen, read & heard...I believe there still is.
BUT...in the end the wrong woman won the feud.
At
Roadblock: End of the Line Sasha would drop the title back to Charlotte
again...and it was over. The feud just stopped because the WWE realized it
had gone on for too long & Sasha was shit out of luck.
"No rematch for you purple hair! Now let Nia Jax sit on you!"
I'll always remember this pay per view & the match itself because as I watched
a limping, blood covered Sasha (she was opened up late in the match from her
nose) walk backstage...I knew she would never recover from losing this feud.
She went on to be squashed & (kayfabe) injured by Nia Jax & helped Bayley
achieve everything positive in her main roster career...but after Wrestlemania
33 there was a ray of hope.
The rumor was Charlotte was being moved to SDL...and that meant that
finally Sasha could turn heel, play the role she was best at (because apparently
in "real life" she is an absolute bitch) & we would get a repeat of the classic
Sasha/Bayley feud from NXT...but on the main roster.
BUT...then Alexa Bliss happened...and Bayley & Sasha were reduced to being
Alexa's bitches making her look far better in the ring than she truly is with both
dropping the RAW title to her at different times.
It would only get worse for Sasha as her & Bayley began a feud (with no real
stakes or cause apart from the fact Sasha has been a meanie & tried to win
some high stake matches)...
BUT even this botched as the writing team went back & forth with the two
hating each other one week & seemingly ready to start a lesbian love affair
the next.
Seriously though all joking aside I think they would actually make a "cute" couple...
Come on...you know I'm right!
Of course this feud just stopped & the two were made into a "proper team"
(which I named The Dom 'N' Sub Connection...because I'm a kinky bastard)
and they finally both had some positive booking & won the new women's
tag team titles in an Elimination Chamber match.
The two actually appeared on NXT (which is how I found out the titles
were real & they had won them) & it appeared they would be defending
the titles on every brand against anyone...which did sound pretty cool.
I was kind of hoping we'd get to see The Dom 'N' Sub Connection take
on Kairi Sane & Io Shirai at a TakeOver...now that would be a cool match
to see...
BUT...after one title defense against "the Mild Samoans" (HA!) at
Fastlane...the two dropped the belts to possibly the two most irritating
idiots in the entire division...Billie Kay & Peyton Royce.
Sasha's main roster booking has basically been one long nightmare
with 5 short title reigns which I would remind you all came to end at
the hands of a heel opponent(s) CLEANLY.
Sasha was never even protected when she was Champion...and if
the rumors are true...she has finally had enough...and I can't say I
blame her.
Sasha Banks could have "run" the entire women's division...
Sasha Banks could have been a "larger than life" star...
Sasha Banks could have been anything...
BUT...the WWE clearly picked Charlotte for that "spot" instead.
Its a shame Sasha wasn't actually related to Eddie Guerrero...
then she may have had a chance.
BUTT.
