Oh this was actually meant to be a bad pun. Pauline wasn't named "Pauline" in the original Donkey Kong. She got that name from Saturday Supercade. In the original arcade Donkey Kong, she was known as "Lady."

I actually didnt know Birdo was transgender when I made that post. Just my cousin used to play as Birdo a lot when we were kids and I was defeated a lot. XD
