I can see why it was done, trouble is it was just a lazy move which smarked of Triple H getting it because of his powers back stage. Also imo he was decreasing in his heat drawing power at this point and so ultimatlely it didn't work out for the best. There were better ways they could have done put the belt on him, besides Smackdown was more interesting at this point and Brock a more talked about champion.

I've always been of the opinion they could have done a one night tournament if need be. Would have been a memorable episode of Raw for the right reasons.

It was still a tactic to piss off smarks, who thought Triple H had too much power.
