Wasn't crazy about the new Slipknot album, but again I haven't been a huge fan of any of their albums for what... 18 years now? Too melodic in places, not aggro enough.
Best track on the album by far.
That's a fair call Wiz...although I personally think its
their melodic side (& artistic approach) that gives
Slipknot whatever "edge" they have.
If you want "Aggro" Slipknot the Iowa album is always
there. Actually Red Flag reminds me of New Abortion
or Metabolic off the Iowa album.
Its funny...I've been listening to Slipknot since 1999
(20 years) & I think every album they've released has
its strengths & weaknesses...& the new one is pretty
solid although I find a few of the tracks over stay their
welcome somewhat...which makes the album "drag"
in its final third.
Its weird because most of the Slipknot albums (the
"standard" versions that is) are all around the same
length...but We Are Not Your Kind is the only one that
feels slightly too long.
I mean Orphan, My Pain & Not Long for This World are
all solid...but I think they all could have been trimmed of
a couple of minutes each.
Then again that's just my opinion & I'm not a member of
a band as popular as Slipknot...so my opinion means little
at the end of the day.
