Since a lot of us seem to agree that WWE need more gimmicks like they had in the 80's and 90's, I thought this would make for a good discussion. To be fair, there were A LOT of gimmicks that utterly stunk... BAD. I am talking like a certain "dentist" for example...
okerface:
Thank GOD for that to have ended so quickly in the birth of someone else...

But back on topic.. There were some very interesting gimmicks that you would have thought to not do well but ended up being fantastic, specially for the times. I am talking like Jake the Snake, IRS, and even the Repo Man. They were random gimmicks that some how worked so well. When we look at the WWE we don't really see much of that at all.
I mean I know the times have changed but it still seems odd that the only weird/strange gimmicks we have had in the last 5 years either died off quickly or aren't doing anything because of poor booking *cough*Bray*cough*. They can easily make Finn be more "demon like" or have someone like Dean Ambrose be a full on psycho but they don't. I have a problem with this too because there have been PLENTY of PG 13 horror films to have portrayed this kind of stuff cleanly so there is no excuse.
Even without the dark and weird gimmicks, we can still have more modernized "job" gimmicks. Like had Otunga actually been good, he could have been a "heel lawyer" of sorts. I don't know. Maybe I am overthinking things here. I just think WWE needs more variety and be able to think out the box. Look at how brilliant the Hardys are now that they are essentially deranged.
I don't know about any of you, but I miss the random gimmicks that set wrestlers apart. Even the silly ones were entertaining.
With all that being said... What kind of gimmicks would you like to see return to the WWE?
