With Christmas right around the corner, I can't believe it is only a week away, I thought it would be the right time to find out what Christmas means to everyone here. Is it a religious holiday for you? Is it more about family? Is it just a day off?

For me since I am not religious I see it as just a nice break and a day off. I don't get all caught up and hang up christmas lights or put a wreath on the door, I just do the gift exchange and that is about as Christmassy as I get. I do the family thing with either a lunch or a dinner but the best part about Christmas is the day after, Boxing Day, since that is when the Boxing Day cricket test match starts each year.

So what does Christmas mean to you?

I am christian/catholic but I don't see Christmas very religious, I never go to church. I do believe in God though.

I see it as a day off, a day for seeing family, exchanging gifts and having a good time. I just mainly love the gifts part to be honest with you. I also like the boxing day sales the next day. haha.

I'm Christian/Orthodox, since I'm 2/4 Serbian (I know it equals one half, but I'm not really half Serbian, both of my parents are half serbian so you see.) and that's the common religion in Serbia, buuuut, we celebrate Christmas as well. It's not that much of a religious day for me as I always felt Christmas and the holidays as the week of chilling and awesomeness, that's the way I take it. I usually just get presents, give presents to other people and then go party with my friends or something, or just watch some movies while drinking hot chocolate. I beg my life to forget that Santa doesn't exist though, I wanna believe again.

I see it as a time for gifts, we also have a meal. I prefer the day after, Boxing Day footy is awesome.

As I've grown older I've seen it as just another day. Just more so primarly focused on family and the giving and receiving of gifts. But along with growing older I've grown more cyncial and look at it as a consumer wet dream. The corporations get their share and our wallets get raped. While I see the beauty and magic in spending time with family, its become a corporate holiday.

As I've gotten older everything 'holiday' wise has become stale, I mean of course seeing my friend come together is great and the presents I didn't have to pay for are great, but it's not the same I feel like once you find the truth out about Santa Christmas is a real bummer.
