Well I will agree they're a tad overrated, but the potential of these two is solid. You have two very accomplished amateur wrestlers and both are very intelligent as well. In Haas you have a guy who was a 2 time Big East Champion in wrestling who also worked as a stockbroker for Goldman-Sachs. He's already held numerous indy tag team titles with his late brother Russ, including the CZW and Jersey All-Pro tag belts. Benjamin was a 2 time All American in Wrestling at Minnesota (a wrestling factory), meaning he qualified twice for the NCAA National tournament, and had also considered training for the 2000 Sydney Olympics. Now, Im not saying all of those accolades mean they're going to be great or even are great, but in this day and age of tag team wrestling in the WWE, I think Haas and Benjamin stand out from most teams. They're well known to most fans and that's a huge plus for Ring of Honor. You're bringing in 2 guys that fans know and have held WWE Championships. I don't think that there's any question that ROH won't put the titles on them. I think it's just a matter of when they do. Overall, this is a very good pickup for ROH.

Indeed, I don't doubt they're a smart aquisition for ROH based on profile alone, however....

If ROH's tag div (and TNA's for that matter) is as good as it's made out to be, I struggle to see what a couple of Vince's cast off's are gonna bring to the table performance-wise... At one point, their amateur (and indie) credentials may have provoked my interest but 8/9 years down the line, no chance. It's not like WWE didn't try on an bunch of occasions to get Shelton over long-term (admittedly, Hass not so much) , but motherfucker just looks lost as soon as the bell rings. Just another internet darling that didn't make it, where the smarks will claim any old crap under the sun to deflect the blame away from his shortcomings...

I mean look at Kennedy now he's free from the evil VKM and the dreaded PG-factor.... How has HE evolved since escaping the shackles of the WWE? Still unremarkable in terms of his ring-work, still injury promo it would appear (2 stints off TV so far I believe?)... Still, he does get to refer to himself and his fans as assholes now.

(Sorry, not as concise as previously written, but fool here gone done losted my post somehow and had to re-typed it!)

As for the comments about WGTT being the stand out team of their era....

They actually come from an even worse a period of time than Team Angle (considering the lack attention the div was getting towards 2006 onwards), yet Londrick, Cade & Murdock & MnM are all still massively >>> WGTT, IMO.

I see and understand where you're coming from my friend, but I don't think we can fault these two for having worked when tag team wrestling had begun it's decline. Im not saying they're superstars, but they do bring a pretty decent pedigree to an upstart promotion. Also, compared to WWE, ROH and TNA's tag division is much better. Depth is irrelevant, but quality of matches and the amount of time put into the segment of tag teams, its much better overall. Again, Im not saying that it's going to propel ROH to new heights, but it certainly doesn't hurt them in the long run. Granted that Benjamin has all the potential in the world but not a clue what to do with it, but that can be changed by working with some of the guys in ROH. We know that eventually Haas and Benjamin will be in singles matches and ROH loves to pair almost everyone off on the roster with one another at some point. Either he'll be able to work and hold his own with guys like Strong, Richards, Edwards, Daniels, Cabana, etc. or it'll show how inept he may be. Same goes in tags. Either they'll be able to go with the likes of The Briscoes, KOW, American Wolves, etc, or again, it'll show how inept they can be.
