We are at the lowest point in wwe history

But yeah, precisely what I was thinking. Punk and Bryan had voracious reactions when they were finally allowed to succeed, but I think Cody is the first guy in a very long time to get universal love and adoration and backing from a company. I don't think Cena was ever this over.
I do think Cena was close on the initial rise when he was still rapping, but once WWE sanitized him on the road to becoming the top guy he lost the shine and by the time fans realized that this is who was left, they turned on him. I was at SummerSlam in Boston which is supposed to be home turf and we chanted for edge to break his neck. You shouldn’t be hearing that for your top guy lmao

Yeah, I don’t think Cena at any point once he was a legit babyface ever got even CM punk level of fan adulation let alone the monster Daniel Bryan pops.

Cena probably got it the worst around One Night Stand 2006, after that I think the hate became more WWE-fed, and he had a very brief moment being cheered in the Spring of 2008, and then WWE went right back to business with the "Embrace the Hate" shit in 2009-2013.

I think in both 2006 and 2007 is when the legit hate elevated to the top Heights. Once you get to like 2009 or 2010 or so fans are definitely just doing it to be in on it. But I do know there was a Orton match in 2007 when Orton was getting boos when facing anyone else, but he was getting cheered when he wrestled Cena as well. It’s one thing to boo Cena but to cheer the heel really means you hate the babyface lmao

That summerslam in Boston that I was in attendance for was I think two months after that one night stand and that heat that built up at that one night stand was very much still in the air and like I said this was Boston which is supposed to be seen as Hometown so to speak. We hated him.

Part of me thinks edge retained that night as an audible because of how over edge was with us in Boston that night.

It's honestly kind of weird how forgotten 2004-2007 is in the grand scheme of things since it largely fuckin' sucked to watch and 2003 & 2008 were great years in of themselves.

And then the PG era hit and the previous bad era was promptly forgotten.

Personally I think from best to worst it goes:

Golden Era - 1985-1992
Brand Extension - 2001-2003
Attitude Era - 1998-2000
"Reality Era" - 2013-2015
"Renaissance Era" - 2023-Now
New Generation Era - 1993-1997
Ruthless Aggression Era - 2004-2008
PG Era - 2009-2012
Dark Era - 2016-2022

The only thing I hate about the current marketing is how in your face it is like captain crunch logo all over the arena

Are you talking about the matches that get sponsored? They're getting paid to do that. If someone came to me and said "hey we want to give you x amount of dollars to promote our product" and it was a large amount, you bet your ass I'm going to show it off.

I find it hilarious how Cody was so popular that the audience literally turned on The Rock in order to support him and he gets the most insane reactions every week but people still wanna claim he sucks and makes wrestling bad

Imagine being such a hater. Get a fucking life :lol

And it would probably suck to people who don't like that aesthetic :drphil
