WCW Monday Nitro Live Watch-Along: From the Beginning

While I agree the beginning of this match always feels like you can’t really get a good grasp on what’s going on once you get down to this part and you got the final people all on one ring there’s absolutely nothing wrong with this match. There’s some really good stories going on right now.

I mean to be fair just do a 20 man Battle Royal and all you get is the good stuff

Hogan is incensed that he did not win this match.

like the cameras don't show the finish cause they were busy with Hogan outside the ring

This is similar to what I was talking about with Halloween havoc. While you could eventually convince Hogan to agree to not win something, it can never be clean. You have to come up with a convoluted reason for why he didn’t win.

Imagine the booking committee tells you that you’re supposed best friend at the time in Randy savage is finally gonna get the belt and you say that’s fine. I’ll let him win the bell but you absolutely refuse to get thrown over the top rope if you come up with some bullshit that the referee didn’t know that he went under the rope and you have to then after the match is over with staying in the ring the entire time that Randy is Celebrating with his newly won first time WCW championship. The absolute arrogance of this motherfucker.

Lex went home that night and was like wait I’m gonna join the dungeon of doom? What am I doing with my life?

God that WCW title is one of the most beautiful titles ever, if not the most beautiful.

The thing about this finish though is, I wouldn’t even mind it if it led somewhere. Which it doesn’t. If the plan was to do savage and Hogan at Starrcade, which would be a worthy Starrcade main event all of this makes sense but they don’t even do that.

God that WCW title is one of the most beautiful titles ever, if not the most beautiful.

The only thing I wish they did was the same thing that WWE does in 2002 and they just should’ve just commissioned one that had the actual WCW logo on the top of the plate but other than that it is a gorgeous belt.

I still find it funny that they make you pay (however much a PPV was back then) to tell you to watch the Cable TV program the next day.
