I totally agree with @leojay. People who say that Pokemon back then was better is simply because of nostalgia, because they grew up with it; it was part of the childhood.

You can still own the past Pokemon in the new games, it's not like they cease to exist. With that logic, Ash should have gotten rid of Pikachu long ago.

Yes, I agree that the actual build of Pokemon isn't what is use to be. Yes, there's a trashbag Pokemon and other completely ridiculous ones in the new batch, but Pokemon was already completely ridiculous if you really think about it. If you're judging the whole new era of Pokemon because of one sole Pokemon, then you're quite the idiot, I'm sorry, but there are so many new features and new things in this era that are so amazing and fun that you would miss because you want to be a hipster.

I guess this is the same as the pg era , the first gen was way better that the 4/5 gen ( 1 gen =attitude era 3 =ruthless aggression 4/5 pg )
And even if u can choose pok. From last gen ( like now there's the rock , lesnar ,hhh ) isn't the same ( I loved white 2) I mean did u see what happened to rhyperior , marmortar magnezone and electrivire the look weird , and IMO they are crap , even if there status are awesome , come on , I prefer the old magmar or magneton ....

Well then use Magmar or Magneton, it's not like the game says you can't or anything. I finished B1 with a Snivy and a bunch of HM/Revive Slaves. You can do whatever you want.

Apart from Magmortar (still like better than Magmars design) and Ryperior, I like those designs.

As Lady Deathbane said, Gen 1 gets by on nostalgia. Some of the Pokemon were awesome, most of them just got fat. But the games oh my god, they were terrible in comparison to the new ones.

- You could miss with pokeballs
- Alot of pokemon couldn't learn moves of the type they were
- you can only have 20 Items max (Including TM's/HM's/Key Items)
- The first town doesn't even sell potions
- Wrap/Fire spin on a fast pokemon was broken (the point where you wouldn't even be able to make a move unless you got lucky and it missed.)
- TM's had one use
- the daycare center had one slot
- some of the pokemon sprites were wrong.(Koffing is an example)

Whahahaha my emerald was blaziken an Latias Lvl 100 (train by Evs like a pro ) and 4 zizagoon with pick as ability oh and one tropious
