For people saying "he's not ready", well why couldn't he hold on to the briefcase and see how Sandow is doing in 6 months time?

Sure that's a possibility, but now he has the stigma of being the only guy to lose. Someone had to be that guy. It makes MITB less predictable and not such a sure thing. This is far more interesting frankly. Also it gives his character an instant chip on his shoulder, and something to shoot for. I'm sure by this time next year, Cody and Sandow will be rekindling their rivalry and it will be for the World Title.

Cena already wasted a briefcase but yeah I take your point.

I like Sandow, he is very talented, him stripping Cena from the WHC picture wouldn`t be good considering that he just came back from an injury, and we know that every time Cena comes back from an injury he comes back stronger

The quality of the match distracted me from the outcome. It wasn't until commentary was talking about what happened that I remembered that Sandow lost his MITB case.
Hopefully they actually give Sandow to do after this,he's pretty darn good and shouldn't be one of those talents who just go to waste because WWE doesn't book them properly.

It annoyed me at first. Seeing Cena with the injured arm, and the pre match attack and all still win kinda made me mad at that instant. I suppose that if they have a championship unification at WM in mind the briefcase had to be dealt with, so sure. If Cena holds on to the belt until an unification match I won't be mad but if he loses it to ADR or something and things go back to normal I'll be angry.

It annoyed me at first for the same reasons Laura said, just so sick of the same old Cena shit, especially with him having an easy out with the arm injury. They could have done a whole bunch of cool stuff with that and actually do stuff to get the fans behind him, but noooooooooooooooooo they had to rush the title onto Cena for some reason in a way that reminds all of us why we can't stand the dude. Sigh. #wwelogic

(And no, this doesn't elevate the WHC, it'll mean just as little whenever some random dude wins it again)

But when you think about it, it's fine. Best case scenario, they can play off of this (highly doubt it) and have his highly-competitive match with Cena elevate him, or just piss him off so he has a meaner streak and have some character depth (even more doubtful), worst case scenario is Sandow doing the same thing he was before, coming out and wrestling midcard matches while being hilarious and drawing gobs of heat even though he can't win a match. This won't hurt that at all.

Wonder why they bothered to do it though... why put the case on Sandow (well, to turn Cody babyface, so it wasn't pointless at all) but why did they just waste the briefcase like this?

Not at all. Not good having a world title when you're not ready, can lead right back to the undercard where Swagger was until (arguably) recently.

Him looking strong against (an albeit injured) Cena is much better than looking weak for an entire World Title run in my opinion.

I just saw the match. Hell of an effort by both men, and it was better than anything on Bound For Glory.

Sandow may need some retooling before he's ready for the main event, but he will be there.

Can't say I was upset or disappointed at all, as much as people seem to love Sandow (online at least), I do not think he is ready to be champion just yet. I hated how a few of the previous MITB winners had been booked terribly, with loss after loss (such as Sandow) prior to their successful cash-ins, so I was glad they didn't do the same with Sandow. He's been handled like a chump lately for the most part, it would look silly to have him as the champion at the moment. The match made him look great though, and that's the kind of stuff he needs.

I wasn't bothered that he couldn't beat an injured Cena either, I mean it's Cena we're talking about. Injuries don't mean anything with this guy in my opinion. If you go to-to-toe with him, that's a win in my book, no matter the circumstances. Sandow came off looking more credible in that defeat than he has in his entire career.

I was quite mad myself to be honest. They did not have to pull the trigger on his cash-in that early. They could have builded him up as a more serous, powerful, astute wrestler for 6 months or, then have him cash-in at WM against Cena. Isn't Sandow supposed to be an intelect, wants to make a name for himself? Make history and be the first man to cash-in at Mania, the biggest show in wrestling, now that would have put him over x10000000. I just think Sandow has been handled wrongly all year. Like not winning the tag titles w/Rhodes at the beginnning of the year, his briefcase win, etc.

Hopefully they bother doing something right with Sandow soon, just please.

I'm glad to see a sensible post such as this. Exactly my thoughts. Simply getting a competitive match for the strap with Cena is a career accomplishment, and a stepping stone in the right direction. Many people become marks for their favorite guys and can't look at the situation objectively.
