After buying his father's company, Vince McMahon changed it's agenda and recruited Hulk Hogan to act as the company's front man and assume the character of a super hero, endowed with powers that carried him to prevail over villainous representatives of evil. What if Hogan had not been available? Who might McMahon have picked to discharge his grand plan? The only star from that era I can recall who had a chance of carrying off such a grandiose role might have been Slaughter. He could have exploited his American Patroit role and taken it to extremes of fantasy as a enemy of not only threats to America, but threats to everything good.

That really is a What If, Andre Was a Draw, not as big as Hogan But Andre was.. You also have to Remember Macho Man was around this time.. just really starting to bloom as a Main Event. And Macho Was Similar to Hogan in alot of ways... We were ways away from Ultimate Warrior's... Big Time Stunt. The Million Dollar man was'nt really... 'there'... Don Murraco... was there.. Jimmy Sunka.. was somewhat a thing.. So there are possiblities.. but I dont think it would have sold as well as Hogan Did.. It was just the right Character... with the right guy a one in a million shot.

You're wrong. Anybody could have been the top guy for the company, but nobody could have done what Hogan did. He freaking made the WWF the undisputed number 1 company in North America and changed the business as a whole. And he wasn't at the right place at the right time. He was fucking HOT in AWA, it was just that Verne Gagne wouldn't put the strap on him as he preferred technical wrestlers as his champions. So Hogan left and took ALL of his HEAT with him to the WWF where Vince didn't hesitate to pull the trigger. It's more like the WWF was in the right place at the right time as ANY promotion could have taken Hogan with that kind of heat and booked him into the superman role. Verne was a moron and the WWF was smart enough to jump the gun on Hulkamania and the rest is history. So, no, no other wrestler could have did what Hogan did for the company.

Plain and simple, Hulk Hogan is a lucky Bastard. Thats why he got all the hype and fame. But actually anyone would have gotten this if they were chosen by Vince, but as i said, he is a lucky bastard.

Exactly what WS said a couple posts up....HOGAN WAS LUCKY....what I was trying to say is that Vince threw some red and yellow and a Catchy name on some up and coming guy...(Terry Bollea) and it suceeded...Lets say some one like umm...Rob Conway was around back then and he was in the same position Terry was...Well right now Rob "Hulk Hogan" Conway would be just as big and influencial as Terry was....HE WA SIN THE RIGHT PLACE AT THE RIGHT TIME PERIOD.......

Hogan was lucky as many have said. Vince made the business and he could've had Billy Grahm lead his company but he was too old. Randy Savage could've been the guy at many times to lead the company but Hulk Hogan's ego wouldn't allow for Randy to be bigger. Hogan had a lot to with Randy not being bigger.
