CONTROVERSIAL TNA booker Vince Russo has hit out at the WWE following Impact's head to head battle with Raw on Monday night.
Russo — who wrote for both WWE and WCW during the original Monday Night Wars — said Vince McMahon's show lacked punch despite Bret Hart's return.

He said: "I sat in the production truck and I watched our shows side-by-side on Monday night.

"It was great to see Bret — I love the guy — always have.

"But as our show went on, and as I watched his, I just kept asking myself — 'where's the effort?'

"Does Vince think that little of TNA that he felt that he could just produce 'another show' on Monday night?

"I mean, you take away that first segment and that last segment, and you had a wrestling show that wasn't even mediocre at best."

Speaking of Impact — which featured the TNA debut of Hulk Hogan and Eric Bischoff — Russo added: "We learned a lot, on Monday night as a company — a lot.

"We hit some home runs, but also struck out once or twice, but that's OK.

"What really mattered is that we took risks. We gave you everything we had and didn't play it safe."

Russo is an idiot, I will agree Raw wasn't really special, but thats about it.

Other then a killer match between AJ & Angle, there show was nothing more then, hey lets see how many guys from the 80's/90's we can give more camera time too. I saw one home run and really it wasn't that great of one either because now we've already seen the Main Event to there PPV 2 weeks early and AJ already went over. Why would I pay money to see it now?

I'll agree TNA relied mostly on anticipation value, appearances and debuts but it did work for them Monday. However, the charm is going to wear of really quickly. They need to take what they did with the AJ/Kurt match and make that the formula for 75% of their broadcast...incredible matches. The other 25%..sure, go ahead, squeeze in your blast from the past big names.

^^exactly, but you know what there were so many holes with that show. I was listening to Who's Slamming Who and Cornette was the only guy to pick up on something I did as well. They show Hogan's Motorcade, to which Cornette informs us that he recognized the buildings, and they were just driving around the block, but that it was stupid to have the new Boss be late for the show and that the only thing dumber about it was the first words out of Hogan's mouth was that he was in the back all day meeting the boys. To which just shows bad writing.

The 50 billion comercial breaks were really dumb too. Like at least 4 times they came back from comercial for a mere 30 seconds hyped something and then went back to comercial again. The show was horiable, the booking was bad the story line was stupid and network planning was stupid. They needed all the shock and awe stuff to keep people cause they would have lost me during those bad comecial breaks had I been watching Raw & Impact head to head.

I picked up on that too but I didnt think much of it because I figured He left and came back. Also, one minute he was in the limo the next second he was walking down the ramp.

LOL, yeah that was all pretty funny.

Bottom line is that TNA can "compete" with WWE at this point so they need to offer the complete polar opposite that WWE is right now. Instead of ridiculous backstage skits and failing story lines as their main focus... utilize their incredible young talent have have their show revolve around WRESTLING.
No matter how horrible WWE's writers are, TNA's are that much worse. TNA needs to capitalize on all of the things WWE's fans are complaining about at the moment. Two hours full of mature, fast past wrestling with minimal cheesy child oriented storylines.

You know what else was great about the pre-tapes, the show started at 8pm and is on the east coast. right now it gets dark before 6pm. Yet the motor cade started with it being bright outside yet it was suposedly live. The last scene of the moror cade it was dark and then when we saw the Nasty Boys first arrive as Foley was walking away it was light outside again.

the other funny thing was TNA took advantage of the 7 second delay and muted the audio from the crowd at the end of the first match because the fans started chanting bullshit. I mean seriously, you had to know fans were going to react that way, why would you book that finish? I mean I know why Hogan said he did, but then they should have changed the type of match all together.

Mistakes aside... iMPACT was still >>>>>>>>>> RAW on Monday aside from the brief Bret moments. Though the HBK part was just horribly forced and awkward.

the foley thing where he talks with Christy was earlier in the day yes, but then him trying to get in again and then leaving as the Nasty Boys walked up was suposed to be live.

"Bullshit" was edited out because it was a curse on regular cable, not because it was an unexpected reaction.

I disagree. Although Raw wasn't really anything special I hated Impact. Had I been watching head to head I would have stopped watching Impact.

How do you figure the Hart/HBK thing forced? They were quite honest. Bret hasn't changed his opinion but he was willing to let HBK say his and Bret really is trying to put it all in the past, just as he said with the segment with Jericho. I don't think HBK & Hart are really going to be friends now, but I really do believe that they were being honest with there feelings and are really trying to put this behind them.
