Vince McMahon's evil "Mr. McMahon" character is said to be finished, according to the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter.

The character was spawned back in 1997 following the infamous Montreal Screwjob. McMahon's on-air character turned heel for the first time and it became the antagonist to the company's top star "Stone Cold" Steve Austin in arguably the best run in the history of the company.

With Bret Hart's return to WWE after 13 years, McMahon felt WrestleMania would be the perfect chance for Bret Hart to get his ultimate revenge and wipe out Mr. McMahon once and for all. The over-the-top beatdown he sustained at the hands (and feet) of the Hart family signified the end of the character.

McMahon is a firm believer in pushing younger acts and is not blind to the fact that he's in his 60's and the character more than ran its course

Vince has settled his in ring disputes with just about everyone. Austin, Undie, HBK, Hogan, Hart, HHH. It's about time he wanted to give it a rest.

This also means he's filling out his retirement books as well. Looks like Hunter will be the CEO pretty soon.

^^^Yeah, really. Maybe he'll try and make that idea come to fruition this year. There are a lot of younger wrestlers almost on the main event scene. Once upon a time The Rock and Austin feuded for the IC title before they headlined Wrestlemania thrice.

HHH as CEO, as Blue as it sounds, is most likely going to happen. I wish Shane could take over though :)

Sooooo what the fuck is going to do? Just come out and be good ol' Vinnie Mac with no motivation or character? I refuse to believe this until I see it.
Feuding the the boss is still one of the best ways to over a young up and coming face. And the beat down by Bret was just ridiculous. You almost felt bad for Vince.

That's another problem. How can Drew have his endorsement if there is no Vince character. It would make no sense.

Hate me for saying this, but if there is a need for an onscreen CEO type character, then have some crazy storyline where the WWE stock plummets JBL snatches up the WWE in some "Corporate Raid" and becomes the next "Mr. McMahon". His wrestling was never stellar, but I loved him as a heel, just when he'd talk on the mic. JBL is pretty much shit in the ring now, but could work one or two odd "blowoff" matches a year if it came to that.

I can see it working. Anybody else?

^^^It's a great idea but I'm jaded with the heel GM, Owner storylines. I remember a wonderful time when there were no on-air management personalities. You might see "President Jack Tunney" once in a while but not every week.

I do not think that the Mr.Mcmahon character will never return tbh. It will always return if need be. But Vince is getting pretty old, perhaps he is just going to stay of television for the time being, which really isn't a bad idea.
