Vince McMahon Not Satisfied With Shayna Baszler Match On RAW?, More On Vince Changing RAW Plans

WWE Chairman & CEO Vince McMahon reportedly made several changes to Monday's RAW from the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, according to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter.

WWE apparently had plans for Aleister Black to make it through another RAW without getting pinned, but Vince re-wrote that match and Black took his first pinfall loss to AJ Styles, after defeating Karl Anderson by pinfall and Luke Gallows by DQ. Vince also re-wrote the reveal of Erick Rowan's tarantula in the backstage segment with No Way Jose, but there's no word yet on what was originally planned.

Regarding Ricochet vs. WWE 24/7 Champion Riddick Moss, the original plan was for R-Truth to face Moss but Vince changed it to Ricochet, and called for the clean win by Moss.

As noted, Monday's RAW was to feature WWE Women's Tag Team Champion Asuka vs. Shayna Baszler, but Asuka suffered a left wrist injury the night before at the WWE Supershow live event in Salisbury, MD, and was not cleared to compete. Kairi Sane replaced her, and took the loss to Baszler.

There was said to be a lot of "negativity and uncertainty" regarding Vince's reaction to the Sane vs. Baszler match on RAW, with the bout not getting the desired reaction, and Baszler not coming off like a WrestleMania headliner just a few weeks before her expected match with RAW Women's Champion Becky Lynch at WrestleMania 36.

I do hate that Black took his first pinfall loss last week in such underwhelming fashion. Compare Black's showing against the scrubs that are The OC last week to Darby Allin's performance against Jericho and Guevara last week and the difference is night and day. Black should have never had that much trouble getting through Anderson and Gallows who are perennial losers. That segment was so poorly executed.

Not surprised that he's second guessing Baszler vs. Lynch. I think they're in too deep at this point, but yeah. Even going back to Survivor Series, Baszler has done nothing on the main roster that is going to compel viewers to care about her. It doesn't help that they re-debuted her with that inexplicable biting angle, and then had Becky immediately get her heat back by hijacking an ambulance and coming back to the arena to call her out.

As far as Rowan and Ricochet go... eh, no comment.

I feel like Shayna is in such an awkward position and one that isn't going to end up overly well. She's fine at what she does and the role she plays but she just comes across as soooo boring. She's best suited to NXT with her style but that division had stagnated super hard with her at the helm so the only logical conclusion was for her to move up. Unless something drastically changes with her, I can totally see her flopping.

It's actually sad that I think Becky/Nia would have been a better angle.

Also I like the "I swear...." like this is going to be the breaking point for WWE.

The reality is that only like 20% of the roster, if that, are well taken care of in the past few years. Even someone like AJ Styles who was previously the face of Smackdown is kind of just there on Raw right now. The roster is massive and the booking is pretty wishy washy so unfortunately, most people on the main roster at any given time are gonna just be kinda floating. They don't bother to try to keep everyone on TV over and feeling important like they do down in NXT.
