In the trailer it shows some people looking at the symbiote in that bar so we might be seeing both MCU and Sony universes in this movie.

One of those people looking at it in the bar is the same actor who plays Mordo in Dr. Strange so hopefully that's not suppose to be the MCU Universe. Haha. It's the same bartender though but he has longer hair and looks like he's a customer, not a bartender - so I think it's probably the same bar just in the Venom universe.

But whatever the case is, Sony has shown to be incapable of any type of continuity or sanity as it relates to universes so who knows.
