World Wrestling Entertainment has begun promoting the upcoming "WWE Superstars" series, which is set to debut next month on WGN America.

The program will be based around first-run interpromotional bouts between members of all three WWE brands. The tag line for the series is "Expect Everything."

The company's biggest stars are featured in the series' promotional campaign including John Cena, Triple H, Undertaker, Batista and Jeff Hardy. According to their promotional campaign, the series will feature "the biggest Superstars from Raw, SmackDown and ECW."

The official blurb on the series reads: "The biggest Superstars from Raw, SmackDown and ECW debut on "WWE Superstars" – a one-hour exclusive weekly television show – featuring original matches between any WWE Superstar from any brand, at any time. "WWE Superstars," the only place to see it all! Expect everything. WWE Superstars premieres Thursday, April 16."

WWE.com has launched a section promoting the series, which you can see at the this link.

Company officials do actually plan on putting forth effort into the program and having big names on it. They plan on having the regularly featured stars from RAW and SmackDown appear, as well as it's own set of storylines. However, many believe that will only last as long as the program draws adequate ratings to make the extra creative effort worthwhile. WGN isn't even a top 50 cable station.

If the ratings aren't high enough to warrant the extra workload on the already fatigued creative team, it will likely become another show like "Metal" or "Jakked".

So, basically another brand? While I'm glad that it's not going to be just a highlights show or something, I do smell failure. If they actually want it to have ratings, they won't be getting away with like, The Highlanders on there. They'd have to put credible guys on there, and if they do that, it's basically another brand, which is th elast thign they need.

So it's just all wrestling? If so, that's fucking awesome.

It would be awesome to have these little cross brand feuds on this show and have the lower carders fight each other. All matches sounds good but maybe a pre match promo or small segment would help push any storylines on the show.

Sounding good tbh.

Fox 8 better pick this up, they show Vintage Collection (and Impact, rofl), so I assume they'll chuck this in somewhere.

No, I don't have this channel either. I still think that this show should still have had the lower card guys or guys that don't get much or any tv time. And not have them jobbing on it either.

I hope its an all wrestling show. But we know wwe it will show what happened on ecw raw and smackdown on the rebounds. But what im thinking is, if wwe are cost cutting etc and only fly in people who they need to save money. But then i think then why have this show added where more wwe guys are on tv every week? It will start off like hhh vs edge or something or Morrison vs Rey. Give it a few months like the report said and we will have hacksaw vs charle hass. Mind you it does give people like noble a chance to shine and i like to see wrestling matches in wwe. Id rather watch noble vs bourne than hacksaw vs goldust.

I have a feeling OneHD will pick it up here. It's gonna be showing shit like basketball, golf, NASCAR, Gridiron etc.

Sounds to me like they'd be better off running a 2nd hour of ECW and building on what's already there... There's so much low/mid card talent not getting any TV time; they're never gonna get over... Bringing HHH, Cena & Co. into the new show is hardly gonna change things for the better.

Has anyone seen any info about it being broadcast in the UK.... Anyone know if Sky will be picking this up?

I completely agree with this. Bringing the big names to the new show is counter-productive. It gives the wrestler an even more crazy schedule, and makes storylines harder to keep track of. They should have made this a 2nd hour of ecw OR use it for midcard guys who don't get TV time right now.

Having this as a tri-branded shows almost seems to make the brand division all together pointless.

Perhaps if the show is used to showcase the mid-card and almost make the IC and US titles seem like the main titles it could possibly work. Still, I think an extra hour devoted to ECW would have been the smarter choice.

I have a feeling they might as well, considering the umbrella brand (Ten Network) is an entertainment channel in itself.

Otherwise, no harm in Fox8 filling in the wrestling void on Monday!
