Update on Edge's Injury

Edge has a torn pectoral muscle from taking a bad bump during the Mardi Gras angle on the Smackdown show that aired on Friday. He is expected to miss some time. The plan had been to keep him as the top star on SD! for the time being so he is a little ticked off that the injury came now.

The plan was for a Battle Royal to determine the new champion. The winner of the Battle Royal will make their first title defense on Sunday's Great American Bash in San Jose.

This could always change as they are writing SD! as we speak.

It's funny how everyone is suggesting who will win the title ... yet leaving out the #1 contender as a possibility. I'm not saying he will win the title, but surely it's a possibility?

Another name everyone's forgetting? A certain former World Heavyweight Champion who is scheduled to return to the brand soon? Rey Mysterio Jr. Like him or not, he is a legit ME star and could carry the title for a short time.

I am not a fan of the 'trading Kennedy back to SD!' route, becuase it would make a mockery of the Draft. Also, Matt Hardy should be nowhere near the belt, as he can't even win the US Title let alone the World Title.
