UPWF - Into The Fire [REVIEW]
- I love the commentary trio, especially McGuinness. Nigel is one of the BOAT imo, and has transitioned well in recent years to the commentary desk.
- Page vs. Nakamura is such a beast match to open the card. The match had a good flow, with clear intent of giving Page as much of a push as possible, whilst still making it clear that Nakamura is the person who is very much being pushed up the card.
- Alicia Atout has grown on me IRL - I used to get really annoyed with her, but now I sort of link her. Don't kink shame me! I liked AJ hyping the match, and it felt more like a TNA AJ rather than a WWE AJ speaking, if that makes any sense.
- Steen vs. Lethal. I love a bit of a history lesson for feuds that have effectively been put on hold for various reasons. Exploration of what could have been if you would. It was a solid contest, and as much as I expect Steen to claim the victory - a small part of me was hoping Lethal was going to get the win. More so, because I'd love to see Lethal get a big push in a fantasy world project like this.
- Shogunate getting a victory, with the added interference of Kana is a pretty awesome way for her to debut. I'm not a big fan of IIconics as babyfaces, but that is more of a personal preference. The match was certainly a good read though, and I am massive fan of women's tag team wrestling at the moment.
- The Samoa Joe interview I had no interest in - more so because I think there is a 0% chance that Joe wins the contest. The writing was fine, but the draw just wasn't there for me.
- I never realised that Moxley vs. Devitt never happened, it is a good thing you had such a massive creative IQ. So far it was the best match of the night, but massively wanted Devitt to win. I'm just not a fan of Mox though, but it didn't stop it being the MOTN (so far).
- Tessa with her Dad is a cool pairing. I'd love to see a triangle with Daga involved. The match between Tessa and Davina certainly wets my appetite. I like the idea that it is the daughter of the Four Horsemen vs. the one of the member of the 4 Horse-Women. It feels very circular and like a journey through time. The match was solid and a Tessa win is a big BANG!
- I love the continuity of Atout interviewing Bryan and carrying on from AJ's interaction, really adds the fuel to the fire.
- FTR with Tenille is a great manager pairing. They would make for an excellent trio combo. On the other side I have never understood the hype about the Vikings. A great contest, only for a dream second generation pairing of Pillman, Jr and DH Smith [that is smart pairing up]. The Hart Hellions! BOOM!
- I like Mercedes interview as there is a continued fluidity, with segment actually seeming to tell a story of the whole night. I'm not sure why, but I am picturing the NWA Power set at time - but on a much larger scale. If that makes any sense? I don't know.
- WOW! What a massive swerve! I did not see WALTER losing, so for him to actually be forced to pass out. I love it! I love totally seeing a product take in a direction that I wasn't expecting at all. Plus it makes Joe looking fucking incredible - like top tier for being the man who not only beat WALTER, but devastated him.
- Tessa speaking prior to Mercedes vs. Kana, seems to almost setup that Tessa will be facing the winner of the contest. And that match was fucking incredible! Like it was tight - certainly a co-main event status match. Kana vs. Tessa as a prospect gets my hyped!
- The main-event was literally the main-event. FIRE! FIRE! FIRE! MOTN! Certainly a 9/10 match for sure! It was the perfect ending to a really solid card, and I massively enjoyed it.
