Whatever it was, a non-speaking monster couldn't have survived in the new age WWE. And managers take away a dimension from wrestlers. WHen I see a wrestler with a manager, the wrestler's credibility goes down a few notches in my view.

I liked it. Fuck the bullshit about it being "too smart". He's got a brilliance about him, which honestly makes him all the more fear-inducing, if you ask me. The fact that he knows what he's talking about, he's articulate, it gives him so much more to introduce in his character, and I think WWE has actually thought this one out beyond one night to build a story around Umaga and his past. How many monsters have portrayed brilliance in wrestling through their character?

I think for a worker to get over these days he/she MUST cut a promo. Even if the character is a monster heel like Umaga. The fact is, nobody believes Umaga is a savage animal anymore. We all know he's human, we all know he doesn't have supernatural powers. Portraying him as a normal person who CAN speak, but just has mental problems and is crazy is the right way to push monsters. So basically, I don't mind Umaga speaking. It adds a positive element to his character and I think it will help his overness
