Daniel Cormier will remain on next week's UFC 170 card after all.

A day after the UFC decided to pull Cormier from the card following Rashad Evans' knee injury, the promotion has decided to book Cormier vs. newcomer Patrick Cummins as the new co-main event of UFC 170, UFC president Dana White confirmed with MMAFighting.com.

"I heard about this kid Patrick Cummins before," UFC president Dana White told MMAFighting.com. "The thing that's interesting about this kid is that he was the training partner of Daniel Cormier and claims that he made Cormier cry when they would train together. Not only did he say that, he said he broke him every time, and he said he would break him again next Saturday."

Cummins (4-0) is considered one of the brightest light-heavyweight prospects in MMA. The former Penn State University two-time All-American and national champion runner-up has finished all of his opponents in the first round. His manager, Ryan Parsons, claims over 50 light heavyweights have turned down fights against him since he went pro in Dec. 2012. He currently trains at the Reign Training Center with the likes of Mark Munoz and Chael Sonnen.

Cummins had been campaigning for the opportunity on Twitter from the moment news of Evans' knee injury broke.
Interesting to say the least.

All I gotta say is this better not be some little 1 minute squash. But then again considering how boring Cormier has been fighting it'll prob go all 3 rounds.

UFC... just need to tone back on the cards now... seriously. They have so many that I'm forgetting when some are coming. Its like once a week now. I thought I'd like it cause I like me some MMA... but man... this ain't cuttin it.

Embrace The Grind, Slim.

I've tried to but I just can't. He goes from knockin fools out in Strikeforce to grindin against the cage for 15 minutes. It's like duuuuuude throw something.

I agree they probably do put on far too many events, but I doesn't really bother me as I only watch the cards that interest me and have guys that I recognise on there. All these UFC Fight Night *insert country name* I literally never watch like the one in Brazil tommorow for example with Machida on.

Despite the abundance of cards they put on, it feels like forever and a day ago since I last watched which was the December one which ironically enough had Ronda on.

I only paid attention cause I wanna see Jacare. Hoping he rises to an eventual title shot. I like submission specialists.

And maybe Machida will do something in the main event. Plus Eric Silva can be entertaining. But mainly only kept up for Jacare.

I'll be watching it in some form, really pulling for McMann in the main event and can consider me a Ronda hater.

Haven't liked her since she came to the UFC and Dana had a massive hardon for her and just want us whole world to fall in with her losing the belt. Combine that with how much of a cunt she was a TUF, yeah I wanna see her lose.

I'm a fan of her so will be doing the opposite lol.

Will have to watch it after the fact though since I won't be here to watch it live.

I'll watch it but not live. As for Rousey, I wouldn't call myself a fan but I have nothing against her. She does try entirely too hard to play the heel though. For one, you don't admit to "being the heel"
