The UFC is looking drop bombs in Brazil and they most certainly have an explosive card to do so, as they return to the HSBC arena in Rio De Janeiro. Jose Aldo is nothing short of a spectacle to watch and this Saturday he looks to extend his UFC title defenses to 5 as he faces the division's most durable fighters in recent memory the Korean Zombie Chan Sung Jung. Also, Lyoto Machida looks to finally get that title shot that he's been promised twice now with another victory but this time he'll face someone who posts a rather interesting threat to him - Mr. Wonderful Phil Davis. Other fights on the main clude include ultimate fighter alumni brazil Cezar Ferreira and Thiago Santos in a middleweight match clash, Thales Leites returns to the octagon after a 4 year distance to take on former BAMMA Middleweight champion Tom Watson who will be looking to add another to his list of already impressive knockouts, and Brazilian flyweights John Lineker and Jose Tome will look to do battle and show just how dynamic the 125 pound division is. Ladies and gentlemen, this is your official UFC 163 prediction thread.

Hello, everyone Red Alex here bringing you predicitions for the upcoming UFC Pay Per View set to go down on August 3rd in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil. Jose Aldo came up from a harsh background in the favelas in Brazil and made a career out of posting devastating knockout finishes inside the cage at WEC, he fulfilled his rags to riches story by defeating Mike Brown for the WEC featherweight championship in 2009 and has been absolutely dominant over the UFC's 145 pound division ever since. While Aldo dominated as champion, another name emerged as the Korean Zombie Chan Sung Jung and his wreckless abandon fighting style wow'd audiences everywhere and picked him up 3 straight wins and 4 post fight bonus award including a submission of the night for the only twisted submission finish inside the octagon, a knockout of the night for tying for the fastest knockout in UFC history, and a fight of the night award for his 4 round war against Dustin Porier. Tonight, he looks to make history again and become the first Asian born UFC championship as these two look to put on what is promised to be a barn burner. In the co main event, Lyoto Machida looks to bring his unorthodox style to the octagon which he has used to knockout top names in the UFC's Light Heavyweight division including Rashad Evans, Randy Couture, and Ryan Bader once again in hopes of cashing in a title shot against former All American from Penn State University - Phil Davis. Also on the main card, ultimate fighter winner Cezar Ferreira looks to bring another win home for his home country of Brazil as he takes on the always dangerous Thiago Santos. Thales Leites looks to make his octagon debut a successful one as he takes on former BAMMA middleweight champion and seasoned striker Tom Watson, and John Lineker will look to add another win to his 21 professional victories as he takes on seasoned veteran Jose Tome. It's live, it's on Pay Per View, it's UFC 163: Aldo Vs Korean Zombie. Let's take a look at how I think things will go down this Saturday.

Featherweight (145 lbs) Championship: Jose Aldo(c) Vs Chan Sung Jung
Jose Aldo has been touted as one of the biggest prospects in mixed martial arts, and considering the young champion is only 26 years old, he's definitely got a lot of years ahead of him. His ability to complete destroy opponents on the feet with explosive striking and flawless takedown defense labels him a threat to anybody at 145 pounds. In February this year, Aldo took on former lightweight champion Frankie Edgar where Aldo came out on top with a closely contested unanimous decision. His ability to strike while propelling himself off the cage caught the attention of many around the world, including former WEC lightweight champion Anthony Pettis who sent a text out to UFC boss Dana White claiming that he had the ability to beat scarface. Unfortunately, Pettis was forced out of the bout with a knee injury, but as one door closes another one opens and the door opened for the Korean Zombie Chan Sung Jung. Since making his way to the octagon, Jung has racked up three impressive wins over some of the division top contenders. He finished Leonard Garcia in a rematch of what I thought was 2010's fight of the year and probably the most exciting fight we've seen by becoming the first fighter to earn a submission victory with a Twister, he knocked out highly touted kickboxer and former title contender Mark Hominick in just 7 seconds, and he went everywhere in his 4 round war against Dustin Porier which earned him fight of the night and submission of the night honors. After his fight with Porier, the Korean Zombie proceeded to call out the featherweight champion but opted out for shoulder surgery instead. The surgery has left Jung sidelined for well over a year, however his desire to fight has most certainly not been diminished as he finally gets what he hoped for. This is going to be an interesting fight where I say that Aldo will dominate the opening two frames but if there's one thing we know it's that Aldo likes to push forward and strike heavily from the outside. If the Korean Zombie can close the distance and get inside with Aldo and take him down to the ground there's a good chance that he can use his unorthodox and effective ground game to pull off an unforgettable win over the champion, and quite honestly I think it's every bit possiple. I'm gonna trust me instinct and say that Zombie walks away with this one.

Winner: Chan Sung Jung by Submission in Rd. 5

Light Heavyweight (205 lbs) bout: Lyoto Machida Vs Phil Davis

The UFC's Light heavyweight division is most certainly getting more and more interesting as it seems like Jon Jones has nearly cleared out every name possiple at the top for the time being. However that certainly doesn't phase Lyoto Machida who is the only man to steal a round for Jones out of his impressive 5 title defenses. The Dragon will look to get back into the octagon and look for his third straight win after posting a less than impressive split decision win over Dan Henderson, but this time he has a tedious task on his hands with former Penn State All American - Phil Davis. After losing a matchup to Rashad Evans back in Janauary 2012, Mr. Wonderful has become the first man to submit a Brazilian inside his home country on top of defeating world class brazilian jiu jitsu black belt Vinny Magalhaes this past April. It's safe to say that Davis most certainly has made a recent string out of defeating some top level Brazilian competition, however Machida posts a unique threat to Davis that he has not faced. If Davis has any chance of winning this contest, he will have to close the distance and put Machida on his back and possiply look for a submission win, that's an easier task said than done of course as Machida is an expert at feinting and being elusive with his movement. I say that Davis will probably fall into Machida's trap after a first round feeling out process and get caught in the 2nd round. Sorry Phil, if you ever read this.. know I still love ya bro!

Winner: Lyoto Machida by KO/TKO in Rd. 2

Middleweight (185 lbs) bout: Cezar Ferreira Vs Thiago Santos

Considering Cezar Ferreira has been highly touted by his trainer Vitor Belfort, he'll certainly have a lot of expectations to live up to his upcoming fight against fellow ultimate fighter brazil alumni Thiago Santos. The burgeoning Brazilian posts a record of 5 wins and 2 losses, and has not fought since he won Middleweight bracket of The ultimate fighter Brazil under the tutelage of the Phenom himself. While in his time spent away from the octagon, Thiago Santos burst onto the scene as a menacing fighter himself, posting an impressive 8-1 record with 4 of those wins coming via TKO. I see this one being contested mostly on the feet and possiply being a fight of the night performance seeing as both men have the ability to perform vicious devastating knockouts. In this one, I'm gonna say Santos takes a razor thin decision in this one though.

Winner: Thiago Santos by Split Decision (28-29, 29-28, 29-28)

Middleweight (185 lbs) bout: Thales Leites Vs Tom Watson

It's been 4 years since Thales Leites stepped inside the octagon, the former Brazilian jiu jitsu black belt's most notable was a less than impressive performance against than middleweight champion Anderson Silva. However, while he was away he most certainly didn't slouch on the sidelines, posting wins over names like Dean Lister, Jeremy Horn and Matt Horwich. His return to the octagon will be against former BAMMA Middleweight champion Tom Watson who posts a 16-5 record with 8 career wins by knockout. It'll be interesting to see where this fight takes place. However I think the advantage will go to Leites in this one who will use his grappling expertise to pull off a fast submission win and put the rest of the middleweight division back on notice.

Winner: Thales Leites by Submission in Rd. 1

Flyweight (125 lbs) bout: John Lineker Vs Jose Tome

Every single time the flyweights step into the ring you have to be expected nothing less than 15 minutes of non stop action, and in the opening bout of this event between John Lineker and Jose Tome nothing can be expected less. 23 year old John Lineker and 33 year old Jose Tome don't like leaving it in the hands of the judges as they have a combined total of 40 finishes out of their 54 wins. However, usually when a fighter tries to finish thing too early they has themselves out and leave themselves open for big finishes. As much as I hate to say it, even without seeing these two compete it most certainly would seem that it has the opportunity of happening tonight. But let's hope these two are in top shape to put on what should be an action packed fight.

Winner: Jose Tome by Unanimous Decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28)

Well Punks nation, I turn the pedestel now to you to hear your predictions!

I like what I've seen of Zombie but a return from injury straight into a title match? Potentially too much too soon. Aldo by TKO R2

Machida by KO R2. Just by checking out Alex's description, I can see Davis is out of his depth here. Hometown crowd will always help.

I'll do the others once I get more familiar.

It's not even a matter of that considering that like I said Phil Davis is the only American to submit a Brazilian in his home country.

It's just the fact that Machida covers so much distance with his fucked up stance and it makes it nearly impossiple to close to the distance on him. If Phil's gonna have any chance of winning, he's gotta do just that on top of take Machida down and try to submit him, which is a lot easier said than done. Usually when guys try to charge in at Machida they leave themselves open and end up getting caught. The Ryan Bader fight is a prime example of that.

Look at the footing on Machida's stance compared to Bader's. Much wider, and on top of that he's also got these elusive feints with his kicks that he can instantly stop in mid air. It's unreal.

Jesus, he literally just walks in Machida's fist. He's just so casual about the whole thing.

I'm gonna give The Linebacker some props for saying that the shoulder injury would play a part in the fight.

It just also goes to show just how much of a little bitch Aldo is punching and kicking him in the shoulder when he knew it was injured. At least do a a kimura or something ffs you classless moron.
