Re: UFC 161: Barao vs. Wineland

Is Barry vs Jordan really on the main card over Miocic vs Palelei. That's pretty awful, especially with Jordan coming off a horrible performance. This card is decent but that kind of buzzkilled me. Also think Hendo vs Rashad should be co main event.

Re: UFC 161: Barao vs. Wineland

Miocic lost his last fight and Palelei is just returning. While both HD and Jordan won their last fights. The placement makes sense.

As to Hendo/Rashad, I'd generally agree with you if it wasn't for the fact that both recently put on horrifically bad performances in their last fights.

Also you can add Rosi Sexton and Alexis Davis to the main card as well. Was just announced yesterday.

edit- I know you already added the fight in, but it's actually a main card fight and looks like Shields/Woodley was dropped to the undercard.

Re: UFC 161: Barao vs. Wineland

this card interests me. Lookin forward to see what Shields does this go around. Hoping he still gets back to the guy that had that nice undefeated streak.

Hendo and Shad should be looking to have a real nice fight after having duds their last bout.

Shogun vs. Lil Nog... hmmmm... hoping that will be a good one.

Re: UFC 161: Barao vs. Wineland

Jordan won his last fight? I had no idea, I thought his last fight was against Kongo in that snoozefest. I guess it makes sense, but Palelei has a lot of buzz around him. Also, Miocic is coming off a main event fight as well. Whatever just don't see much in Barry or Jordan.

I hope Shogun is ready to go this time. He's put on some average to bad performances the last few times. His fight with Vera was exciting but pretty sad that he went four rounds with Vera.

Re: UFC 161: Barao vs. Wineland

Yeah, he TKO'd Russow on the last Fox show. The fight wasn't very exciting. Russow was actually winning by the end of the 1st but when he came out for the 2nd he gassed hard and Jordan was able to take advantage.

I really hope Shogun is ready to go too. I don't think that either of these guys are going to see title shots again so I'm really hoping that they both come in for the rematch just ready to throw down and put on a great fight.

Also, is it at all surprising to anyone else that Shogun is just like 30? Dude is my age but looks so much older to me. Kinda shocked me when I found out he was so young still.

Re: UFC 161: Barao vs. Wineland

Hendo and Rashad will be just as bad as the Machida fight, as Shad doesn't have exciting fights, ever, and Hendo is too slow and banged up to do anything interesting.

Shogun/Nog should be a fun brawl. Shogun has slipped so bad since the Machida fights that all he can really do now is brawl in life or death slugfests. Fuck technical striking when you can swing like Leonard Garcia and get robbery decisions.

Shields and Woodley are both elite grapplers (and if you think GSP is boring, watch tape on these twozzzzzzzzzzz....zzzzz) so this should be a stand up fight, which doesn't favour Shields at all.

Barao will never lose a fight at Bantam, so might as well feed him guys who will scrap. Wineland is a beast but Barao sgould be talked about in the same league as Jones and GSP, he is that great. Cruz needs to hurry the fuck up and put guy over for the real belt officially.

Re: UFC 161: Barao vs. Wineland

Just can't get into these jockey divisions, such a waste having 4 weight classes covered by 30 pounds. Scrap the 125, 135 and 145 belts and just have a 140 belt instead. The divisions all blend into another anyway and mean nothing.

Hilarious that Shields is on the prelims, the sooner he is fired the better. Such a disappointment since coming to UFC, hopefully Woodley can beat him.

I am still trying to get over how disappointing Rashad was in his last fight against Lil Nog. Just didn't get out of second gear and thought he could cruise through the fight. Needs a top performance to make up for that shocking loss so I expect him to come out all guns blazing against Hendo.

Shogun vs. Lil Nog is a fight between two guys that will never contend for the title again. Shogun would have to be pretty close to retirement, hopefully he comes out and tries to put on a good show with Lil Nog by throwing a few big punches and going for that big finish.

Half the people on that poster just need to retire already.

Don't say Rashad! I know he looked horrendous last fight, but the guy can at least still move at a fast pace. Shogun and Henderson got to go imo. This should be a decent card, but I'm not putting any kind of expectations with this. Jake Shields on the prelims is hilarious. He has been a colossal disappointment.

Rashad if he refocuses himself and maybe leaves Blackzillians can still do big things at LHW or MW.

Shogun, Hendo and Lil Nog need to retire though. Age has finally caught up with Hendo, Shoguns broken down and Nogs just kind of hanging in there.

Bit early to be writing off Hendo as past it, he's only had one fight since everyone thought he was Jones' biggest challenge and that was against a guy who nobody looks good against in Machida.

Re: UFC 161: Barao vs. Wineland

He's too old, too slow and too crude to make it as an elite fighter anymore. Just a dumb brawler with wrestling that he doesnt use anymore. I never bought into the Jones killer hype either, his only chance in any fight thesedays is to land a H Bomb, especially with Jones he'd have to walk into it with his chin high and his hands around his waist.

Re: UFC 161: Barao vs. Wineland

Barao is likely out of this fight due to a foot injury, no word on what the new main event will be.
