smh most Varner's takedowns were just Guillard sitting down.

I agree with the 30/27 Guillard card :austin:

That last 10secs was like a midget version of Fedor vs Randleman.

I'd love to know how each of the judges who scored it 30-27 for each guy came to them conclusions.

Did not expect that. But the two supposed best conditioned HW's both gassed hard and Junior looked horrible, never established himself on the feet and was getting outstruck continuously. And I guess Junior was just lucky that Cain never got to go for a takedown in the first fight because his takedown defence was incredibly overhyped, was just getten takendown at will, though he did a great job of negating that by getting right back to his feet continuously. Still though outstruck by pillowfists... :(

Last two fights were awesome, and I'll say it again that Joe Lauzon is easily the most exciting fighter in MMA, not Jones, not Anderson. The way he tied up Miller's leg in the last round was brilliant and Palhares-esque. Shame he couldn't get the hail mary sub but he'll be back for sure.

Honestly shocked at how JDS'chin held up the distance, after the first I was certain Cain would g'n'p him to a stoppage. Best heavyweight fight in a long time though. Would like to see JDS/Reem for #1 contendership still too.

Only thing that pissed me off was Okami's smothering, he didn't deserve the win, his takdowns were bullshit and shouldnt count at all and he put in the most boring performance since Maia vs Silva. Fuck that guy and I hope the UFC cut him. Really annoyed me that Belcher got screwed and is now back of the line just because some dull fuck lay on him without any ground work for 3 rds.

JDS/Reem should not be a number one contenders fight if it happens. JDS v Cain 3 years in a row would be a bit much, especially if both guys just get one fight to get a title shot. Put some time between the rubber match and have the HW division move onto other things. Reems the next logical contender after he smashes Silva anyway.

You need to look at that division.

After Reem and JDS, you are looking at guys like Mark Hunt and Stefan Struve. Cormier isn't gonna fight Cain, so that title is tied up between those 3 for the foreseeable future. It's gonna be like Bantamweight where Faber keeps getting shots at the title purely due to lack of competition.

Ideally Bones would step up in 2013, but why would you when you have easy money against guys with no chance of winning ie Belfort, Sonnen, Rampage, etc.

No doubt HW is still pretty shallow but you're forgetting Werdum. The guys become an absolute monster, with Muay Thai that rivals his dangerous BJJ. JDS v Werdum 2 makes sense or Cain v Werdum. I'd put him up there as the 4th man alongside JDS, Cain and Reem. JDS can fight Werdum, Giant Silva, Cormier, Barnett and Hunt when they come over. He can be kept busy between title shots while Reem and Werdum get their shots.

JDS has one hell of a chin. After Velasquez hit that big right hand early in the first round I thought that it was over and it would have been a nice constrast to how their first fight went. No idea how Cain couldn't finish him after that because JDS was out of it because of the broken jaw. He was hit so many times on the chin yet didn't go down other than that first big punch. What also impressed me as well was how he just stood up everytime Cain took him down, no matter how much punishment he took he could easily get out of it and stand up everytime. JDS really needs to work on his cardio though, was gassed so early. Cain needs to learn how do to something when he has a fighter on the ground, it was frustrating to see him take JDS down and then just hug him, never tried to submit and didn't try any ground and pound. Can't wait for the third installment.

Miller vs. Lauzon was great and one of the best fights of the year. Lauzon is such a tough guy and the fact that he didn't just hang in but actually got in some offense as well in later rounds said a lot about him. I was hoping that he was going to be successful with that leg hook at the end as it would have been a spetacular finish. The amount of blood that he lost was crazy and they both had a nice red tinge after the fight.

Good seeing Costa get another win, five in a row now. Boestch won the first but Costa looked the better fighter after that and picks up a big win.

Okami/Belcher was so similar to their first fight in the UFC six years ago. Okami did enough to win every round but it was a pretty stale fight overall, expected more out of Belcher.

Opener was pretty weak, Leben looked a shadow of his former self and he showed that if he can't strike he doesn't have much in the arsenal. Good for Brunson to start with a win but it was't very impressive, his reaction after the win was over the top.

With the prelims the judges must have had a few too many. No idea how one judge thought that Guillard won 30-27, at a stretch he won one round not three. Also no idea how one judge gave it to Pickett in his fight against Wineland. Great win for Duffee as well, nice comeback win for him.

I wound up watching the replay. I missed the Leben fight. The Okami fight bout knocked me out. Lauzon... that is one tough dude. That was one intense fight. Very intense fight.

But that main event.... man alive that right in the first round. That would have put out just about anybody. That was solid connection and everything. JDS got one of those granite chins that you just can put him down. That is crazy. But Cain did dominate pretty much the entire fight. But at least now we won't have to hear about their crazy good cardio cause they both didn't really last the whole 5 rounds.
