Apparently 2 weeks prior to the rumble, both TJ and Nattie requested their release (which was denied). Interesting.

From this week's Observer:

Meltzer wrote, "Within the company, there was word that he was quitting weeks ago but we were told that was miscommunication, he would be back and he’s on good terms with WWE. He’s taking time off to help heal up his neck. If you recall, his neck issues were such (basically the same injury as the late Christopher Reeve) that he was very lucky to be alive and it’s an absolute miracle he’s not confined to a wheelchair. The fact he’s able to function well doesn’t change that his neck is in terrible shape and can flare up."

Tyson was very entertaining during his last NXT run, I miss him as a performer.

When I first read that, I was really hoping he was taking the time off to maybe be cleared for a return but it's looking more like the injury is so bad, he has to take time off even as a trainer to rest up which man, I really feel for the guy. I was always such a big fan, his injury really hurt me lol

His NXT run and his run with Cesaro were great. That’s when I became a huge fan of the guy.

Definitely wanted to see him return at some point but it doesn’t seem to be in the cards. Just hope he heals up

I had completely forgotten about him and Cesaro. Damn they really paired the poor bastard with everyone in the company instead of giving him solid solo pushes.

Helluva hand he was....but dude almost died.

A tad different from spinal stenosis that Edge and Sheamus came back from......if I was someone who knew him, I wouldn't want him risking himself like that.

Yeah I read his injury was like 95% fatal and survivors were paralysed so he’s a medical miracle. I hope that they can one day help him enough to give him comfort in his life

If Meltzer isn't wrong about it being the same injury as Christopher reeve, then yeah it's a miracle he can even walk

Does anyone think it’s possible his injury was exaggerated? With all I’ve read about it, it shouldn’t be possible that he’s not only alive but not even paralyzed and can walk and work out. Are miracles like that possible?
