Alright since there is 3 instead of the usual 4 the first 2 rounds will not include an elimination. Also you score an extra 2 points per rebuttal.

1st Topic
In just about every team sport you have to play some kind of role defender Whether it's in basketball, playing goalie in soccer or hockey. Question is in what team sport is defense toughest to play and why?

Deadline:
2/3/11:59 pm pacific time

umm since no one posted i guess it's still open.

Anyway i'mn going to say NFL, becuase of the limited possessions in a ball game. in basketball you are getting 70 something possesions a game, so if you blow it one play on defense you can almost always make up for it. In baseball you might not always get the ball hit to you. in the NFL it's hard for a few reasons. In the NFL if you miss a tackle or blow your coverage and the person takes it for a touchdown your team may not be able to make it up.

If you are facing a guy like Peyton Manning or Tom brady he's probably already got a good idea of what you are doing before the play starts. so he's already got a advantage that way. so he can easily audible to a different play.

Another thing is, you idividually can do everything right and the guy next can you can blow it, making what ever you did not matter.

You gotta go with Football, the defender has no idea what anyone on the offense is gonna do, especially when you got guys like Peyton and Brady calling audibles at the line of scrimmage, just like Reid said

Soccer. To be more precise, I'll name a position - goalkeeper. The GK is responsible for keeping his side in the match by keeping the ball out of the goal. Not only does he have to worry about approaching attackers, he also has to anticipate which direction the ball will be kicked, if their will be spin on it, and how fast it will be coming.

2nd Round topic:
The Green Bay Packers just won the super bowl and of course per usual there is always talk on if a team can repeat or not. Question to you is why or why not the Green Bay Packers repeat winning a championship.

The Packers have a great chance to repeat next year, the defense and offense have gained confidence all year long & now there Super Bowl champs, the skies the limit for this team right now.

Looking at the team right now they are filthy, then when you think about it, there gonna have Ryan Grant & Jermichael Finley back next year for the offense and Nick Barnett for the D, & if Driver decides to retire (I bring that up since he had an injury plagued year and i believe hes 35) they got Jordy Nelson ready to take his spot & James Jones in the slot, i mean this team just how way too much depth to not atleast make the Super Bowl.

& oh yeah that Aaron Rodgers guy is pretty good BTW.

I think they can. and here's why

This team had like 15 people on the IR. including their number 1 back and their starting tight end. If they could get to the superbowl without two play makers, they could have easily got there with them. Hell they even played man down in the second half without Woodson and Driver.

The have both the offense and Defense that can take on everyone and beat them. Clay Matthews and Charles Woodson are both great defenders, add in Sam Sheilds and Tremon Williams, that's one helluva defense.

On the offensive side of the ball, you got a good run game with Grant, who would have been very helpfull if he was healthy all year. Aaron Rodgers who i don't think is comparable to Brady and Manning just yet, but is still a good qb, who has weopens at his disposal in Neilson,Jennings and Driver.

Most of all, they have a good coach, this team was pretty mediocre when he took them over. McCarthy came within a Brett Farve interception away from taking the team to the superbowl in his second year. and last year if Rodgers didn't play hackey sack with the football on the last play, who knows what would have happened.

While I think it's a bit early to say they will be a dynasty like i've heard some people on ESPN say, they will be contenders again next year barring some unforeseen meltdown of Vikings proportions

This is now the 3rd round where the first elimination will be made before the final show down which is best 2 of 3. Remember you get extra points for rebuttals alone.

Topic #3
Just about every year you get a team or two that happens to break out from being a dud to a stud and vice versa. In the NFL pick one team you feel is going have a break out year and then pick a team you feel is going to fall from grace next season (this is assuming the NFL even has a next season) and why.

Deadline:
2/11 11pm pacific time.

Team that will surprise people.

Detroit Lions, I know the l-ions are 2 years removed from 0-16 but this team is lightyears away from being that bad, they got some legit play makers on offense and defense. If Stafford could stay healthy i think he could be a solid player, Jhavid Best is one fast guy and Calvin Johnson made the pro-bowl this year. On defense they have Suh, who also made the pro bowl as a rookie.

Another thing is, they played in a ton of close games, the lost the season opener on that touchdown that wasn't and later on to that Illegal hit to the head that really shouldn't have been called. they lost to the Bears twice and the Packers once by a combined 11 points. so if they turn those around and end up winning the close games they should be at least .500 and contending for a wild card spot.

Team on the downfall

The Chiefs. I think this season taught the Chargers you can't just go 2-5 to begin the season and the rool off 9 in a row, you gotta be consistant all the way through out the schedule.

I think to make the playoffs in the AFC west you hare going to have to win the division, which for the above reasons i don't think the Chiefs are going to do. I don't think they are good enough to lose the division and still hold on the wild card. That's because of the other teams in the AFC, if KC loses the division, they will have to contend with the Ravens/Steelers and the Jets/Patriots.
