Back in 1991, Jumbo Tsuruta & Toshiaki Kawada fought for the Triple Crown title of Japan for the third time. Some argued that this was Tsurutas last match at perfect in ring shape. I disagree, but either way, this match was one for the ages.

Toshiaki Kawada is well known for the fact that he would beat the shit out of his opponent with strikes stiffer than a two dollar steak, and then he would transition quickly and effectively into some of the most basic submission moves. But he would make those manuevers look so vicious and continually put pressure with them that if you're impressed by a Randy Orton headlock, Kawada would put him to shame.

Jumbo Tsuruta was a master technician, and was a massive mammoth of a man in his own right. He knew that due to his size it would always take his opponents extra effort to wear him down, so he would tire out his opponent while taking a beating. When he was ready, and especially when he was angry, he was an unstoppable force. With some of the strongest forearms, deadliest lariats & stiffest knees and boots in the sport, it didn't take long for Tsuruta to put you away when he wanted to.

But what would happen when Tsuruta met with the fiery passion and tenacity of Toshiaki Kawada, one last time? With that gentlemen, I give you, Puroresu Appreciation. Day #1.

:happybday: It's like my thread, only better and with puro. Anyone who brings more of the "Rising Sun" style wrestling here is good with me. I like how you put over Tsuruta and Kawada with your intro too, they are both very good and Tsuruta was a huge loss to the industry.

But who the hell would say this is Jumbo's last match at great ring shape? And who cares? Some of his best matches were in the last 5 years active, which this was. But he pretty much lost everything after he got hepatitis and his middle-aged death was very sad. But anyway, back to the match, it was definitely a great match between two of the best of all time. I mean, these two have had more classics combined then the entire population of most other wrestlers.

But yeah, the match owned. Jumbo getting the win was cool too, although I enjoyed his Misawa and Kobashi's matches more than this one, but yeah, thanks for posting this, man. :y:

That's gonna be a huge problem for me. Because I am so tempted to want to do Tsuruta Vs. Misawa, Tsuruta Vs. Kobashi, Tsuruta Vs. Tenryu. I mean there are SO MANY great matches from this era it's ridiculous.

But I figured Misawa Vs. Kobashi for Day 2 is far more rewarding. Also expect in future days to have Tenryu Vs. somebody from his laundry list of great opponents, Great Muta Vs. Jushin Lyger from 1996 in NJPW, probably Akira Taue Vs. somebody, Jun Akiyama vs. somebody. KENTA Vs. Marufugi, Yuji Nagata Vs. Hiroshi Tanahashi. I mean Jesus fuck man, I have enough classic Puroresu material to go off of to keep this shit going for months. lol.
