Back in 1991, Jumbo Tsuruta & Toshiaki Kawada fought for the Triple Crown title of Japan for the third time. Some argued that this was Tsurutas last match at perfect in ring shape. I disagree, but either way, this match was one for the ages.
Toshiaki Kawada is well known for the fact that he would beat the shit out of his opponent with strikes stiffer than a two dollar steak, and then he would transition quickly and effectively into some of the most basic submission moves. But he would make those manuevers look so vicious and continually put pressure with them that if you're impressed by a Randy Orton headlock, Kawada would put him to shame.
Jumbo Tsuruta was a master technician, and was a massive mammoth of a man in his own right. He knew that due to his size it would always take his opponents extra effort to wear him down, so he would tire out his opponent while taking a beating. When he was ready, and especially when he was angry, he was an unstoppable force. With some of the strongest forearms, deadliest lariats & stiffest knees and boots in the sport, it didn't take long for Tsuruta to put you away when he wanted to.
But what would happen when Tsuruta met with the fiery passion and tenacity of Toshiaki Kawada, one last time? With that gentlemen, I give you, Puroresu Appreciation. Day #1.
