Match One
NWA World Tag Team Championship;
Steel Cage Match:

Triple X (Christopher Daniels and Elix Skipper) (c) defend against Americas Most Wanted

I’m taking a cop out here and not rewriting one of the greatest matches that TNA has every produced. If you haven’t seen this match before, go watch it. It’s a damn near perfect match, so we’ll just pretend they put the exact same classic match on here. Skipper gets knocked off the café and to the floor, leaving Daniels alone with AMW. Harris climbs up to the top of the cage… AMW HIT THE DEATH SENTENCE ON DANIELS…

WITH HARRIS COMING FROM THE TOP OF THE CAGE!!!

STORM HOOKS THE LEG…1…2…3!!!

Winners: Americas Most Wanted @ 21:32

After the match, AMW have a MASSIVE celebration. They are exhausted but the fans cheer loudly, as they’ve gone through steel cage hell to regain their tag titles.

We’ve got new champions, and whilst they’ll enjoy tonight, what’s next for the champs?

With the celebration of the new champs finished, the ring crew begin working on deconstructing the steel cage. As they to, we head to the commentary position, where MIKE TENAY and DON WEST run down some of the card for tonight’s show…

KID KASH WILL CONTINUES HIS ISSUES WITH THE 3 LIVE KRU, OR IN PARTICULAR RON KILLINGS, WHEN HE GOES ONE ON ONE WITH KILLINGS’ STABLEMATE IN KONNAN.

CHRIS SABIN VS. FRANKIE KAZARIAN.

JUSTIN CREDIBLE WILL TEAM WITH THE NEW CHURCH AGAINST THE ECW VETERANS HE TURNED ON RECENTLY. THE TEAM WILL CONSIST OF NEW JACK, THE SANDMAN AND A MYSTERY PARTNER.

The cage is still being worked on, when unexpectedly, D’LO BROWN stomps down the ramp and slides into the ring. D’Lo gets some cheers from the fans, making a strange entrance with no music. Once in the ring, an irritated looking Brown grabs a mic and looks around at the ring crew.

D’Lo Brown: WHOA, STOP THAT!!!

Rather out of character, he points threateningly at the ring crew, who opt to leave the cage as it is.

D’Lo Brown: AJ STYLES… YOU DISGUST ME… SO I’M CALLING YOU OUT RIGHT NOW TO FIGHT ME IN THIS CAGE!!!

BIG time pop from the fans, who support this notion. Only a moment or two later, the NWA World Heavyweight Champion AJ STYLES runs down the ramp with the title around his waist.

AJ climbs himself into the ring… AND THEY IMMEDIATELY START HAVING A HOCKEY FIGHT…

AND THEN A REFEREE GETS INTO THE CAGE AND CALLS FOR THE BELL…

Match Two
Steel Cage Match

AJ Styles vs. D’Lo Brown

Much like the opener, I don’t have a lot to say about this one. This was another awesome thing they did in 2003, and I want to incorporate it into my angles. The only difference is this one ended in a disqualification in real life, yes that’s right, in a cage match. So let’s change that.

VINCE RUSSO RUNS DOWN THE RAMP… GRABS THE REFEREE AND THROWS HIM INTO THE STEEL CAGE!!!

Being in control of AJ, D’Lo is furious and immediately begins cornering Russo in the cage. Just as Brown is about to get his hands on Russo, Styles attacks him from behind, clobbering him across the back. The blow sends D’Lo tumbling through the cage door and outside the ring. With Russo involved, AJ following D’Lo to the outside and the referee down, the result of this one is pretty obvious.

No Contest @ 10:00

The match is over and it’s a bit of a letdown, but the action is certainly not finished. The NWA World Heavyweight Champion follows D’Lo out of the cage and begins stomping all over him.

The boos from the crowd are getting louder for AJ by the second, as he beats on D’Lo and Russo cheers him on. Suddenly, AJ HIS SWUNG AROUND AND DECKED WITH AN UPPERCUT!!!

BY JEFF JARRETT!!!

Babyface ‘Double J’ is in the building, and he starts teeing off on AJ, really sending him bouncing around ringside. AJ tries to escape, and Jarrett continues to have his way… UNTIL A HEAP OF SECURITY RUN DOWN AND MANAGE TO SEPARATE THE TWO!!!

Both men try and break free from security, although it’s clear Jarrett is trying harder than AJ. Security does a good job of keeping the dogged Jarrett at bay, whilst Russo points and yells…

“YOU WILL NEVER GET A TITLE SHOT, JEFF”!!!

And with Brown down, AJ and Russo fleeing to the back, and Jarrett being restrained, we cut to a new image…

Next up is a video package…

***

May 7th – Chris Sabin and Frankie Kazarian went one on one and Kazarian beat Sabin handily with the Wave Of The Future.

May 14th – Chris Sabin is interviewed, and he talks about he is the future, not Kazarian. He challenges Kazarian to a rematch next week so he can prove that he’s the guy to lead the X Division into the future.

May 21st – Frankie Kazarian defeated Sabin again, this time by reversing an Oklahoma Roll into a flash pin.

May 28th – Chris Sabin shocks the world and defeats Amazing Red, Jerry Lynn, Frankie Kazarian, Jimmy Rave and Jason Cross to WIN the TNA X Division Championship. Sports Entertainment Xtreme came down to interfere and helped Sabin win the match. After the match, Sabin nonchalantly accepted one of the SEX t-shirts from Glen Gilberti.

Later on in the night, Sabin is interviewed in the parking lot, where he drops the shirt, claiming he’s only in it for himself.

June 4th – Mike Tenay interviews Chris Sabin on his attitude as of late, and just how he won the X Division Title. Sabin talks about numerous things, before once again making it clear, that he’s the future, not Kazarian.

June 11th – Chris Sabin defeated Amazing Red to retain the X Division Title. Sabin shockingly focused on the injured leg of Red to help him pick up the win. Not reading the room, or simply not caring, Sabin overly celebrates his big win, whilst medics check on Red. This annoys Kazarian who shoves and threatens Sabin for his insensitive behaviour.

Sabin later denied injuring Red on purpose.

June 18th – Chris Sabin successfully defended the TNA X Division Championship against Paul London. It was then announced that he’d go one on one in non-title action with Kazarian tonight.

***

Match Three
Chris Sabin vs. Frankie Kazarian

These two have another decent match, however the story here is that Sabin is clearly paranoid after his previous two losses. He keeps attempting the Future Shock, knowing if he wins it he’ll get his W back, but Kazarian has it well scouted. Instead of pivoting and trying a different strategy, the stubborn/desperate Sabin keeps trying the same thing and continues to fail.

Kazarian is able to seize control and have his way with Sabin… BEFORE KAZ HITS THE WAVE OF THE FUTURE!!!

KAZARIAN HOOKS THE LEG…1…2…3!!!

Winner: Frankie Kazarian @ 8:45

FRANKIE KAZARIAN HAS JUST PINNED THE X DIVISION CHAMPION FOR THE THIRD TIME IN A ROW!!!

The fans cheer loudly as Kaz works to his feet and motions that Sabin’s X Division title will be around his waist in no time…

In the parking lot, we see members of THE GATHERING, ALEXIS LAREE and JULIO DINERO just kind of lurking, looking as strange and ever…

WHEN JULIO GETS CLOBBERED FROM BEHIND…

BY SHANE DOUGLAS!!!

‘The Franchise’ grabs Dinero by his hair… AND RAMS HIM FACE FIRST INTO A CAR DOOR!!!

Laree runs at him… SO DOUGLAS PIE FACES LAREE, SENDING HER CRASHING HARD TO THE ASHPHALT!!!

Douglas lets out his trademark laugh, and then cockily barges through the doors, entering The Asylum…

Our cameras follow Douglas as he makes his way through the rafters, and he ironically stands in Raven’s Nest. It’s a mixed reaction for the controversial Douglas from the fans, and the former ECW Champion pulls a microphone out of his pocket. Again, he’s forced to wait for the noise to die down before he can speak.

Shane Douglas: Just like always, ‘The Franchise’ is the talk of the professional wrestling industry. Everyone wants to know why I’m here. Everyone wants to know why I’ve come to TNA and it’s really simple.

Never short on a word, Douglas chuckles before continuing.

Shane Douglas: I’ve decided to come to TNA because for those of you who don’t know, nine years ago, I made history. In a much better city and building, I put Extreme Championship Wrestling on the map. I threw fifty years of heritage in the garbage can and the NWA Title was no more.

This actually gets a pop from the smark fans who remember the iconic moment.

Shane Douglas: So I take it as a slap to the face when Raven decides to come and chase the NWA Title. Raven, someone who came from a place I put on the map. Raven came onto this show and into this shithole and he tried to resurrect what I destroyed. That’s blatant disrespect to ‘The Franchise’, and I just couldn’t have that.

The fans begin to give Douglas a negative reception now, siding with one of their favourites in Raven. Douglas doesn’t seem to mind.

Shane Douglas: As for how I made my debut in TNA, well, quite frankly, I didn’t have a choice. I tried to come into TNA the right way, but that was made impossible. TNA officials wouldn’t let me near any NWA titles, so I took my only remaining option, and I made a deal with the devil.

Douglas lets out his famous cackle again, but before he can elaborate, he looks like he’s seen a ghost, because RAVEN has appeared in the Raven’s Nest!!!

After taking a beat, Douglas tries to compose himself and look unaffected.

Shane Douglas: You wanna’ always talk about your destiny, Raven? Well it’s your destiny to become FRANCHISED!!!

RAVEN RESPONDS BY SOCKING DOUGLAS IN THE JAW!!!

The two continue brawling with Raven having the advantage, landing a handful of shots to every one of Douglas’. The barrage continues and it isn’t long before Douglas tries to retreat, staggering anywhere he can to create distance between he and Raven.

A fired up Raven is right on his tail though, continuing to swing wildly, with Douglas leading him down the rafters and to ringside.

After being drilled with another big punch to the face, ‘The Franchise’ rolls inside the ring.

Raven follows and looks to continue the assault when BAM!!!

RAVEN GETS ATTACKED FROM BEHIND…

BY GLENN GILBERTI!!!

The unsuspecting Raven falls to his knees and Gilberti stomps all over him, whilst yelling, “THIS IS ALL YOUR FAULT”!

Gilberti’s interruption has allowed Douglas to recover, and now it’s simply a two on one, with Raven being pummelled.

Raven is defenceless as the beatdown continues, until CM PUNK SLIDES INTO THE RING!!!

Punk swings like a mad man at Douglas and Gilberti, doing his best to save his hero. Unfortunately for Punk though, Raven has been battered, meaning he now falls victim to a two on one assault courtesy of Gilberti and Douglas.

The youngster gets stomped on with no signs of relenting, UNTIL JEFF JARRETT SLIDES INTO THE RING…

AND HE’S GOT A STEEL CHAIR!!!

Douglas and Gilberti see it and immediately exit the ring, which gets some heat from the fans. Holding onto his chair, Jarrett desperately calls them back, but they seem happy to back away.

As they back up the ramp, they end up being side by side with a stern looking LARRY ZBYSZKO. Douglas and Gilberti looked shocked to see him, as Larry shakes his head and speaks.

Larry Zbyszko: We don’t have time on the show for all this drama tonight so let’s solve it right now. Since you all want to fight, I’ve got an idea for tonight’s main event. It will be Glenn Gilberti and Shane Douglas versus Jeff Jarrett and Raven in a tag team match!!!

Nobody looks happy with that announcement, except for the fans who pop loudly. Larry doesn’t allow the decision to be up for debate, quickly turning and leaving. Meanwhile, Douglas and Gilberti don’t look happy, but Jarrett looks downright mortified that he’s going to have to team with Raven tonight…

Next up we get a video package…

***

The video package comes to life, showing some of the more recent history between THE NEW CHURCH and TEAM EXTREME.

April 30th, 2003 – THE SANDMAN and PERRY SATURN won a Three Way Tag match which included The New Church, to earn a shot at the NWA World Tag Team Championships. During this match, MIKE AWESOME attempted to interfere on behalf of The New Church but was thwarted by JUSTIN CREDIBLE and NEW JACK.

May 7th, 2003 – Mike Awesome and The New Church, accompanied by FATHER JAMES MITCHELL defeat The Sandman, Perry Saturn and New Jack in a No Disqualification match. They win when Justin Credible turns on his extreme brothers, hitting Sandman with a Singapore Cane.

May 14th, 2003 – After an unsuccessful attempt at becoming tag team champions, The Sandman and Perry Saturn were attacked by Mike Awesome, Justin Credible and the rest of The New Church. The attack culminates with Awesome delivering an Awesome Bomb to Saturn over the top rope and through a table on the outside. Saturn has not been seen since.

May 28th, 2003 – After a week off, both teams resumed hostilities. The Sandman and New Jack managed to defeat Mike Awesome and Justin Credible in a Falls Count Anywhere match. As Sandman and Jack went to the ring to celebrate, SINN and SLASH laid them out with Singapore Canes.

Later that night, The New Church defeated SHARK BOY and TONY MAMALUKE. After the match, they continued to beat down their opponents, until Sandman and New Jack ran them off with Singapore Cane shots and a staple gun.

June 4th, 2003 – Mike Awesome squashes SHARK BOY. After the match, The New Church look to do more damage, however New Jack and The Sandman made the save.

Later that night, New Jack and Sandman had a tag team title opportunity against Triple X, and it was a no disqualification match. Thanks to interference from The New Church, including Awesome giving New Jack an Awesome Bomb through a table, the extreme duo was unsuccessful in their title chase.

June 11th, 2003 – The newly dubbed team of Sharkjack (New Jack and Shark Boy) defeated The New Church’s SINN and SLASH. After the match, Awesome and Credible come out to attack, only for The Sandman and his trusty Singapore Cane to make the save.

The chaos transitions straight into Mike Awesome defeating The Sandman in a Tables match. After the match, The New Church attack New Jack, and it ends with Awesome putting New Jack through a table in the corner with the Awesome Bomb.

June 18th, 2003 – New Jack looks for revenge against Mike Awesome in a No Disqualification match. Unfortunately with interference from The New Church, Sandman’s interference wasn’t enough. After the match, there’s another huge brawl which leads to Awesome hurling Shark Boy over the top rope with an Awesome Bomb through a table set up on the outside.

Due to the heinous actions of Awesome, Shark Boy cannot compete, hence why New Jack and Sandman will have a mystery partner.

***

Back at ringside, all the entrants make their way out for the next match. JUSTIN CREDIBLE is out, alongside THE NEW CHURCH’S SINN and SLASH, as well as their evil manager, FATHER JAMES MITCHELL.

NEW JACK and THE SANDMAN are out next for the pro extreme team. They wait for a few seconds, when…

***NATURAL BORN KILLAZZ***

The fans who know lose their minds, cheering loudly for the nostalgia, as MUSTAFA makes his way out from the back. Mustafa hasn’t been seen since forever, and he shares a fist bump with both his partners, before they get ready to this thing. The fans start a “Gangsters” chant as the referee calls for the bell.

Match Four
Justin Credible and The New Church w/Father James Mitchell vs. The Sandman and The Gangstaz

This one doesn’t have a stipulation attached to it like most their other matches, and it’s not no disqualification. With that being said, the referee used discretion as best as he could, meaning this one breaks down. Plenty of plodding violence and brawling, and there’s no real tags either. It’s just six guys beating the hell out of each other.

We end up with most competitors continuing to cause mayhem around ringside, except for The Sandman. He manages to find himself alone inside the ring with Sinn. The Sandman picks up his trusty Singapore Cane and then grabs Sinn… WHITE RUSSIAN LEG SWEEP!!!

THE SANDMAN WITH THE RELAXED PIN..1…2..3

Winners: The Gangstaz and The Sandman @ 6:12

As soon as the bell rings, the fans mark out, but James Mitchell is fuming on the outside. He urgently waves to somebody from the back, and it isn’t long until MIKE AWESOME JOGS HIS WAY DOWN THE RAMP… AND SLIDES INTO THE RING!!!

The Sandman and The Gangstaz are all in the ring now, it’s a three on one. They dare Awesome to step forward, and he doesn’t back down, prepared to go one on three… UNTIL CREDIBLE, SLASH AND SINN ATTACK FROM BEHIND!!!

Four on three is a big advantage, especially when one of the four is a specimen like Mike Awesome. The heels slowly take apart the faces, far to strong and they beat them down.

At the instruction of Mitchell, Slash and Sinn set up a table on the outside, before Awesome sets his attention to Mustafa.

Awesome drags Mustafa to his feet, before hoisting him high in the air… AWESOME BOMB TO MUSTAFA OVER THE TOP ROPE AND THROUGH THE TABLE ON THE OUTSIDE!!!

Everybody is in complete shock as Mustafa is a big man, and Awesome just threw him like he was nothing. With big smiles on their faces, Father James Mitchell now leads his cohorts away from the ring and to the back.

Meanwhile, medics run down to check on Mustafa, even getting the stretcher out. Similar to Shark Boy last week, it seems that move has taken out another man tonight, as Mustafa is stretchered out of the arena…

We now cut to the interview set in the back, where JEREMY BORASH is standing by.

Jeremy Borash: Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome my guest at this time, he’ll compete in tonight’s main event… GLEN GILBERTI!

GLENN GILBERTI steps into shot, hands on hips and a frown on his face. Of course, he’s topless and wearing black pants that are probably a few sizes to small.

Jeremy Borash: Glen, the questions on everybody’s mind are why you got involved in the confrontation involving Shane Douglas and Raven earlier tonight? And what was with what you yelled at Raven? Telling him this was all his fault…

Gilberti looks irritated at the rehash.

Glenn Gilberti: I got all involved because Raven ruined everything. SEX was going great until Raven double crossed us. Tonight’s main event will be killing two birds with one stone, because I blame Jeff Jarrett just as much for ending the group.

Short and sharp from Gilberti who storms off, clearly in a foul mood tonight…

And now we get another video package…

***

A video package plays showing some of the recent heated history between KID KASH and RON KILLINGS.

May 7th – Ron Killings eliminates Kash from the 15 Man Gauntlet for the Gold match. Furious at being cost a chance at the NWA World Heavyweight Championship, Kash returns to the ring and takes out Killings with the Moneymaker. This leaves Killings as easy pickings to be eliminated by GLENN GILBERTI.

May 14th – Killings and Kash were scheduled to meet, however Killings attacked Kash on the stage during his entrance. They brawl but then Kash gets a LOW BLOW out of nowhere and smashes a steel chair over the cranium of ‘The Truth’.

The match still goes ahead but Killings is out of it, allowing Kash to hit the Moneymaker and win in one minute. After the match, Kash attacks Killings some more, hitting him with another Moneymaker, until Killings’ buddies, BG JAMES and KONNAN run out to make the save.

May 21st – Kid Kash has a TNA X Division Championship match against AMAZING RED. Kash is in control, when Killings comes out and hits Kash with a chair, allowing Red to get the win.

May 28th – The two brawl within The Asylum and into the parking lot. The brawl is heated, and Killings ends up choking Kash with a garden hose, until security finally break up the fight.

June 4th – Both men were barred from the arena, allowing them to cool off before tonight’s big match.

June 11th – Kash and Killings are set to settle their issues in a one on one match, but Kash attacks Killings during his entrance. The brawl is back and forth but Kash always had a slight advantage, due to his jump start. Eventually, Kash hits Killings with a brutal Moneymaker on the steel stage. Kash looks to do more damage but Killings’ buddies, BG JAMES and KONNAN run down so Kash escapes through the crowd.

June 18th – Due to injuries sustained, Killings isn’t at The Asylum, but BG James steps up to face Kash and get revenge. After a blatant rake of the eyes behind the referee’s back, Kash hits James with the Moneymaker and picks up the victory. After the match, Kash continues to inflict punishment on BG, until Konnan runs out with a steel chair. Kash just managed to escape before he could be hit with the chair.

This leads us to Kash vs. Konnan tonight!!!

***

Match Five
Kid Kash vs. Konnan

This is shorter than last week, because it’s 2003 so Konnan is awful. After a few forgettable minutes, KASH DRILLS KONNAN WITH THE MONEYMAKER!!!

KASH MAKES THE PIN…1…2…3!!!

Winner: Kid Kash @ 3:21

As per his strategy in recent weeks, Kash does not celebrate his victory. Ignoring the heat from the fans, he instead steps outside the ring and grabs a STEEL CHAIR.

Kash slides in with the chair, raising it above his head to absolutely smash Konnan…

WHEN KASH GETS SPEARED DOWN TO THE CANVAS!!!

BY RON KILLINGS!!!

‘The Truth’ is back and he’s out for vengeance. Both men hammer away at each other, rolling around the mat, both men getting their turn to be on top and rain down punches on their opponent.

Eventually they make it to their feet and continue to tee off… UNTIL A WHOLE BUNCH OF OFFICIALS AND SECURITY INTERVENE!!!

Boos come from the TNA fans, as they are slowly pulled apart. Once they get dragged away from each other, whilst Killings still wants to fight, Kash is happy to roll underneath the bottom rope and fight another day.

A circle of guards still remains around Kash to prevent him from changing his mind…

WHEN KILLINGS BREAKS FREE AND LEAPS OVER THE TOP WITH A FLIPPING SENTON…

TAKING OUT KASH AND THE GUARDS!!!

Epic pop from the fans, and with both men struggling to their feet, they are able to be separated once again. Killings still really badly wants a piece of Kash, but can’t quite get to him again as we cut away…

We’re in the locker room of the NWA WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION AJ STYLES, who looks focused, busy warming up for the upcoming main event. As he continues his process, a disgruntled looking VINCE RUSSO just watches him, before standing up, having something to say.

Vince Russo: Look, AJ, you’re the champ now, so you’ve gotta’ start doin’ things a little differently. I know you want to fight D’Lo Brown, I don’t blame, but you can’t just rush into things like that. If something were to go wrong, you might get hurt and I, I mean, we can’t afford that.

AJ doesn’t respond, nodding his head to show he understands as he continues to warm up. Russo takes that as a positive and continues.

Vince Russo: So here’s the plan, next week, you get ready, and I’ll get someone to beat up D’Lo. I know you want to get your hands on him so how do you feel about fighting D’Lo in two weeks in a title match?

Again, AJ doesn’t seem to be fussed but nods.

AJ Styles: Hell, I don’t need anybody to soften up, D’Lo. I’ll fight him next week.

Russo grimaces and puts a hand on Styles’ shoulder.

Vince Russo: Two weeks. Trust me, take the week off to scout D’Lo and go in fresh.

One more time, Styles nods in agreement with Russo, and the two share a sickening hug, before we cut away…

Match Six
Glenn Gilberti and Shane Douglas vs. Jeff Jarrett and Raven

Raven and Jarrett are clearly the two higher profile guys here in 2003, so they manage to take care of their opposition rather handily when they are focused. The issue is that they aren’t always able to stay focused. Given their history, there are a quite a few moments during the match, where Jarrett and Raven get in each other’s faces. When this happens, it allows Gilberti and Douglas to attack from behind and get an advantage.

Despite that though, Raven and Jarrett are able to keep their issues separate long enough to get the job done. As Jarrett brawls with Douglas on the outside, RAVEN DROPS GILBERTI WITH THE EVENFLOW INSIDE THE RING!!!

RAVEN HOOKS THE LEG…1…2…3!!!

Winners: Jeff Jarrett and Raven @ 7:33

Post the match, Raven has his hand raised by the referee, and gets a positive reception, but the fans are distracted. Jarrett and Douglas continue to brawl outside the ring… UNTIL DOUGLAS MANAGES TO RAM JARRETT FACE FIRST INTO THE RING POST!!!

Before Douglas can bask in his glory, Raven grabs him by the hair and drags him into the ring. The fans mark out now, cheering loudly, as Raven keeps a hold of Douglas’ hair.

‘The Franchise’ begs off, clearly scared, when Raven kicks him in the gut… AND SHOVES DOUGLAS’ HEAD IN POSITION FOR THE EVENFLOW!!!

NO!!! THE EVENFLOW IS INTERRUPTED…

WHEN A FUCKING FIREBALL IS SHOT RIGHT IN THE FACE OF RAVEN…

BY FATHER JAMES MITCHELL!!!

Holy shit! Raven immediately relinquishes his grip on Douglas and drops to the canvas. He is screaming in pain, rolling around on the canvas and remaining face down so we can’t see his face.

Douglas looks at Mitchell almost in shock, as a bunch of referees and medics come down to check on the injured Raven.

Not long after, THE GATHERING, ALEXIS LAREE and JULIO DINERO run down to check on their leader as well.

Everybody is distressed, except for the pure evil Father James Mitchell. Douglas looks at Mitchell, almost uncertain, but then breaks out into his signature cackle… AND DOUGLAS SHAKES HANDS WITH MITCHELL!!!

Nobody can quite believe it. Raven is down and out, face potentially burnt to a crisp, whilst like he referred to earlier tonight, Shane Douglas has clearly made a deal with the devil indeed…

The show opens up with the cameras panning around the infamous Asylum. Both regulars and new fans are in the building, and they’re all making noise, including shouting “TNA, TNA” at the top of their lungs. After a few moments of just soaking in the amazing atmosphere, we head to our commentary position where MIKE TENAY and DON WEST are ready to promote tonight’s match card.

Our commentators get to introduce themselves, but before they can get into tonight’s matches…

***DOWN WITH THE BROWN***

It’s an unexpected interruption but it’s one the fans are happy to see. They cheer vigorously as D’LO BROWN bops his way down the ramp like only he can. Despite the remaining swagger, there’s no smiles and no posing tonight, as the sweatpants and sleeveless top wearing D’Lo means business. Once inside the ring, my third favourite Nation of Domination member (Rock, Owen, D’Lo) signals for his music to be cut so he can get something off his chest.

D'Lo Brown: This isn’t Monday night so I’m not out here to talk and talk and talk and talk and talk. I’m out here to say I don’t want to wait another week for my title shot against AJ Styles! I’m done waiting and I want to wipe that stupid little smirk off of his face right now.

Big pop for the fired up nature of Brown. He paces back and forth, awaiting a response, the fans buzzing with excitement…

***I AM***

Despite AJ Styles’ new attitude, the theme initially gets a pop because the fans are eager for this confrontation. Suddenly though, the reaction turns into volcanic heat because it’s not AJ that steps through the curtain, it’s VINCE RUSSO. Knowing he’s shocked everybody, including the irritated D’Lo, Russo wears a cocky smirk as he smartly remains on the entrance ramp.

Vince Russo: You all don’t sound very happy to see me, were you expecting somebody else?

MAJOR heat for the deliberately infuriating Russo.

Vince Russo: D’Lo, the champ is in the back resting up. He maintains the tough champion schedule and shows up even though he’s not scheduled to wrestle tonight. AJ has dedication like no other. AJ is such a great man that he wanted to come here tonight and scout you.

The number one contender continues to pace up and down, patience running thin.

Vince Russo: And scout you, not fight you is exactly what AJ is going to do tonight. I promised someone would come to take you out tonight, and I’m living up to my word. Ladies and gentlemen, let me introduce to you the new bodyguard for me and the NWA Champion… MALICE!!!

***TAKE YOU UNDER***

The fans gasp at the first appearance of this monster of a man in a while, as MALICE slowly makes his way down the ramp. Face set in stone, Malice barely acknowledges Russo, who pats him on the back and follows him down the ramp. D’Lo takes a deep breath, knowing he’s in for quite the challenge, as Malice and a referee enter the ring.

Match One
D’Lo Brown vs. Malice w/Vince Russo

Malice has an ultra-impressive performance in his first showing in his new role. It’s a highly competitive match. Malice uses his strength advantage to really beat on D’Lo from start to finish. Even though he struggles, Brown uses his experience advantage and his intelligence to avoid any of Malice’s big bombs such as the Chokeslam.

Because of this, even with the domination from Malice, he’s unable to finish D’Lo off. Malice begins getting really frustrated as does Russo on the outside… SO RUSSO GRABS A STEEL CHAIR AND THROWS IT INTO THE RING!!!

Immediately getting on the apron after that, Russo begins arguing with the referee, expertly providing a distraction. Whilst that argument continues, Malice bends down to pick up the chair… WHEN D’LO NAILS A LOW BLOW OUT OF NOWHERE!!!

Malice grabs at his nuts, in a lot of pain, and it allows D’Lo to pick up the chair… D’LO CRACKS THE CHAIR ON THE SKULL OF MALICE!!!

The big man falls down like a pile of bricks, as D’Lo quickly slides the chair outside of the ring. Much to the delight of the fans, Russo jumps off the apron, realising he can’t do much more. Meanwhile, D’Lo ascends to the top rope… LO DOWN CONNECTS!!!

D’LO STAYS ON TOP OF MALICE FOR THE COVER…1…2…3!!!

Winner: D’Lo Brown via pinfall @ 7:00

After a hard fought victory, D’Lo gets a hearty response from the fans as his hand is raised. Brown gets into celebration mode, pointing at Russo… UNTIL HE TURNS STRAIGHT INTO A TITLE TO THE SKULL!!!

COURTESY OF THE NWA WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION AJ STYLES!!!

The heat is enormous as AJ continues to become more of a heel in the eyes of the fans each week. To make matters worse, he invites Russo into the ring, and AJ and Russo begin stomping the life out of D’Lo.

As the two on one continues, Russo’s eyes suddenly go wide with fear, and he evacuates the ring… WHILST AJ GETS SPUN AROUND AND NAILED WITH A RIGHT HAND!!!

FROM JEFF JARRETT!!!

‘Double J’ hits his awesome right hands, causing AJ to reel, backing against the ropes… RUSSO TRIPS UP AJ AND DRAGS HIM FROM THE RING!!!

Boos ring out from the crowd, as Jarrett wasn’t done with AJ. Russo and AJ begin backing up the ramp, as Jarrett calls for them, and Brown recovers in the ring.

Before the champ and his new buddy can disappear, they are greeted on the ramp by a microphone wielding LARRY ZBYSZKO.

Larry Zbyszko: I’m sorry to interrupt whatever is going on here, but I need to clear up some mismanagement surrounding the NWA World Heavyweight Championship. Let me start off by saying I can respect honouring the contract not to face D’Lo Brown until next week. I really can, but the rules are that the NWA Champion has to defend that title every thirty days.

Styles and Russo begin comically counting with their hands, freaking out. The fans begin to stir, sensing something big is coming.

Larry Zbyszko: My memory isn’t what it once was, but I went back and reviewed the tape just to make sure my dates were right. Since AJ Styles won that title on June fourth, he’s yet to make a title defence. It’s now July second, and by my math, that’s twenty eight days later. That’s twenty eight days and you’re yet to defend that title, AJ.

Styles holds the title close to his chest, shaking his head, repeatedly mumbling “you can’t take this from me”.

Larry Zbyszko: I’m not taking anything from you, AJ, as a matter of fact, I’m giving you an opportunity. You can defend your title tonight, but if you don’t, you will hand that title over to me right now.

Big pop from the fans as AJ stomps his feet and throws a tantrum. D’Lo looks interested, whilst Jarrett clearly wants the shot for himself. As current events are sinking in, Russo manages to get a mic.

Vince Russo: Whoa, whoa. I don’t know who you think you are, ‘Living Legend’, but you can’t do that.

Russo is furious but Larry just smiles.

Larry Zbyszko: Actually, I can. Maybe you and your champion should read the rule book!

Larry waits as Russo looks to be trying to formulate a plan, when a pissed off AJ snatches the mic from Russo.

AJ Styles: Fine. I’ll defend the belt tonight. This title isn’t going anywhere; it doesn’t matter who I face.

AJ turns to leave, but Russo looks anxious for a moment.

Vince Russo: That’s right, but just to reiterate, AJ is not facing Jarrett.

Russo turns to follow the champ through the curtain, as the fans boo Jarrett not getting a shot. Larry just sort of shrugs and leaves, as Brown awkwardly stares at the upset Jarrett, knowing he still has a title shot coming next week…

Now we get the usual time for MIKE TENAY and DON WEST to hype tonight’s card from the commentary desk:

AS JUST ANNOUNCED, AJ STYLES TO DEFEND THE NWA WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP AGAINST A YET TO BE NAMED OPPONENT.

AMERICAS MOST WANTED WILL DEFEND THEIR NEWLY WON NWA WORLD TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIPS AGAINST DAVID YOUNG AND SONNY SIAKI.

FINALLY, THE TWO MEN IN ARGUABLY THE MOST HEATED FEUD IN TNA WILL MEET WHEN KID KASH GOES ONE ON ONE WITH RON KILLINGS.

THE WAR BETWEEN TEAM EXTREME AND THE NEW CHURCH CONTINUES WITH SIX MAN TAG TEAM ACTION… JERRY LYNN, NEW JACK AND THE SANDMAN VS. JUSTIN CREDIBLE, MIKE AWESOME AND SLASH.

SHANE DOUGLAS HAS CHALLENGED RAVEN TO FIGHT HIM TONIGHT IN A CLOCKWORK ORANGE HOUSE OF FUN MATCH.

***DEEP***

Rather enthusiastic heat emanates from The Asylum’s audience as ‘The Franchise’, SHANE DOUGLAS struts to the ring. Donned in his usual black and yellow wrestling tights, Douglas laughs to himself like only he can, looking down at the fans. Once inside the ring, Douglas gets a mic, ready to get something off his chest.

Shane Douglas: There’s a saying which is context is king, so before I talk, I want to show you all what I did to that piece of shit Raven last week…

***

***

Boos continue to be thrown at the direction of Douglas, who cackles at the inexplicable events of last week.

Shane Douglas: I don’t know why you’re all so upset; I’ve always done whatever it takes to accomplish what I set out to do. I made a deal with the devil to get into TNA and stop Raven from trying to resurrect what I destroyed nine years ago.

The fans still aren’t happy, but ‘The Franchise’ pays them no attention now.

Shane Douglas: And I was ready to finish this with Raven once and for all tonight, but Raven isn’t even here to fight me. That means Raven forfeits and I want to be declared the winner right now.

Douglas waits for a few moments, before motioning with his hands, most likely signalling for a referee to run down and do what he wants…

***MISERIA CANTARE (THE BEGINNING)***

It’s more of a shocked reaction than anything else from both Douglas and the fans as a determined, angry CM PUNK stomps down the ramp. He enters the ring without hesitation and pulls a mic from his shorts. Douglas chuckles at the guts on the kid.

CM Punk: Raven might not be here, but Raven is a hero of mine and I’ll take Raven’s place.

Douglas looks to laugh it off, but Punk isn’t joking. A referee comes down, and well, it looks like this is happening…

Match Two
Clockwork Orange House Of Fun Match

CM Punk vs. Shane Douglas

Fuelled with emotion and the motivation to prove that he belongs, CM Punk arguably puts on the best performance of his career to this point. He dominates his veteran and former World Champion opponent, barely taking any offense and completely having his way. The crafty Douglas shows resilience though, refusing to stay down for the three count.

As Punk continues to just rough up Douglas, the fans begin making some noise because a smirking FATHER JAMES MITCHELL begins walking down the ramp and towards ringside. This infuriates Punk who points menacingly at Mitchell, scalding him for what he did to Raven last week.

Mitchell continues to engage with Punk, and as the distraction continues, Douglas is able to crawl across the ring and pick up a steel chain. ‘The Franchise’ wraps the chain around his fist, and with a smirk, patiently waits for Punk to finish debating Mitchell. Eventually Punk finishes speaking his mind… ONLY TO TURNS STRAIGHT INTO A PUNCH TO THE GUT WITH DOUGLAS’ CHAIN WRAPPED RIGHT HAND!!!

It's legal due to the match type so all the referee can do is flinch. Punk collapses to his knees, gasping for air and feeling at his mid-section, when Douglas hoists him up… SIDE BELLY TO BELLY SUPLEX!!!

More pressure on the mid-section, AS DOUGLAS HOOKS BOTH LEGS…1…2…3!!!

Winner: Shane Douglas via pinfall @ 5:42

The fans voice their displeasure of the result, as Douglas doesn’t really celebrate the victory. Instead, he shrugs off the referee and intimidates him, until the ref has no choice but to leave the ring.

Observing the downed Punk, Douglas shakes his head, before inviting Father James Mitchell to join him in the ring.

The two share some words before IT LOOKS LIKE MITCHELL IS BEGINNING TO PREP A FIREBALL LIKE LAST WEEK!!!

BUT AT THE LAST MOMENT, DOUGLAS AND MITCHELL LEAVE THE RING IN A HURRY…

AS ALEXIS LAREE and JULIO DINERO SLIDE IN, BOTH WIELDING STEEL CHAIRS!!!

The Gathering are furious after what happened to their leader last week, and they want some of the perpetrators. Douglas and Mitchell keep their cool though, backing up the ramp, with Douglas telling them, “YOU AREN’T WORTH IT”!

Douglas and Mitchell leave the area, as The Gathering pace inside the ring, having saved CM Punk in their attempted revenge…

In the back, surprisingly by himself, a nervous VINCE RUSSO is pacing back and forth, most likely stressing over AJ Styles’ unexpected title defence tonight. Russo’s pacing is stopped though when his path is blocked by DAVID YOUNG and SONNY SIAKI, both looking rather earnest and respectful.

Sonny Siaki: Vince, we just wanted you to know, we are still loyal to you after handpicking me for SEX. And I can tell you right now, my boy over here, Young is alright.

Russo sighs, blatantly not caring.

Vince Russo: Not sure if you saw what happened out there earlier, but I don’t have time for this. Actions speak louder than words. If you want to impress me, go out there, you can win the Tag Titles, then come find me and we will talk.

Despite Russo being in a mood, Siaki and Young take that as positive news. The duo slaps each other on the back, pumped up before leaving Russo to start anxiously pacing again…

Match Three
NWA World Tag Team Championship Match

Americas Most Wanted (c) defend against David Young and Sonny Siaki w/Desire

Not much to say about this one really, just ticking off AMW’s first title defence now they have the belts back. Harris and Storm clear Siaki from the ring, and as Desire checks on him, Young is left on his own. Harris looks to lift Young in the air, but Young shrugs him off… ONLY TO TURN INTO A SUPERKICK FROM STORM!!!

STORM MAKES THE COVER…1…2…3!!!

Winners: Americas Most Wanted via pinfall @ 8:09

The fans are happy with the result, cheering loudly, as AMW prove why they are the champs. The duo celebrates with the titles, enjoying the moment, whilst Siaki and Young are going to be forced to go back to the drawing board…

Backstage, standing by at the interview set is the better looking of TNA’s interviewers, GOLDILOCKS.

Goldilocks: Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome my guests at this time… BG JAMES, KONNAN and their friend in action tonight… RON KILLINGS!!!

A nice pop from the crowd as BG JAMES, KONNAN and RON KILLINGS step into screenshot.

Goldilocks: Obviously Ron you have a big match tonight, but I have to ask, is this friendship formed because of your shared dislike of Kid Kash?

The three men all exchange looks, agreeing that Killings should step forward and answer.

Ron Killings: Yes and no is the best way to answer that, Goldi. K Dawg is cool, and me and BG go way back. And with all this stuff with Kid Kash, this became a no brainer. We all agreed that we need to watch each other’s backs around here to make sure we get the opportunities and respect we deserve.

K Dawg and BG nod in agreement, before BG takes over.

BG James: Just before Killings takes care of Kash, it wouldn’t be the pro wrestling industry without a name for our newfound group., so let me tell you, we’re not one, not two, but we are the three live Kru! The Kru is going to watch Truth’s back tonight and make sure Kid Kash gets what’s coming to him.

Konnan doesn’t talk surprisingly, but outside of that, they’re all happy and looking forward to Killings’ match with Kash…

Before the match though, we get a video package…

June 25th – Kid Kash defeated Konnan in less than four minutes after nailing the Money Maker! After the match, Kash looked to continue to attack, until Killings mad ethe save and the two men had a huge brawl. It kept going until security and referees intervened.

KID KASH VS. RON KILLINGS… NEXT!!!

***

Match Four
Kid Kash vs. Ron Killings

Considering the hatred between these two, and despite the fact that they could probably put on a good wrestling match, that’s not what we get here. It’s a fight, plain and simple. It’s full of chaos for the most part as both want to do severe damage to the other. Kash gets on top for a while, but Killings manages to fight back, building momentum and making a big comeback.

With panic kicking in, Kash goes to the eyes of Killings, and then heads outside and grabs himself a steel chair. Sliding back in. KASH BRINGS THE CHAIR UP OVER HIS HEAD…

BUT THE CHAIR GETS SNATCHED OUT OF HIS HANDS…

BY BG JAMES AND KONNAN!!!

They are on the apron, and they point menacingly at Kash, but never enter the ring. As ‘The Notorious K.I.D’ looks concerned, he turns back towards Killings who is heading for the homestretch now. With his friends all behind him, cheering loudly, Killings starts dominating now, really just pinballing Kash around the ring.

After whipping Kash into the ropes… KILLINGS TAKES HIM OVER WITH A BACK BODY DROP!!!

NO!!! KASH KEEPS ROTATING AND LANDS ON HIS FEET…

AND IMMEDIATELY SCREAMS AND GRABS AT HIS ANKLE!!!

The referee immediately ushers Killing away so he can check on Kash. Kash is definitely pointing towards his left ankle, as Killings is repeatedly told to stay away. The ref throws up the ‘X’, demanding medical attention for Kash, as Killings shrugs and looks towards his buddies, unsure what to do….

WHEN SUDDENLY KASH SPRINGS TO THE LIFE AND SPRINTS TOWARDS KILLINGS…

KASH GETS A SCHOOL BOY PIN…

AND HE HOLDS ONTO THE JEANS FOR EXTRA LEVERAGE…1…2…3!!!

Winner: Kid Kash via pinfall @ 12:27

The negative reception is ungodly for Kash, who immediately gets out of dodge. Kash rolls underneath the bottom rope and sprints up the ramp, hoping the other members of 3 Live Kru don’t come after him.

Instead, they console Killings in the ring. All three members of 3 Live Kru are fuming, as Kash shoots them a smirk before stepping through the curtain, victorious yet again…

In a random backstage area of The Asylum, we see LARRY ZBYSZKO removing his cell phone from his ear. Our commentators immediately question whether he’s making calls to finalise AJ Styles’ challenger tonight, when Larry is approached by an eager looking FRANKIE KAZARIAN.

Frankie Kazarian: Larry, sorry, if I can just have a moment of your time? I’m sure you’ve seen it; I’ve pinned Chris Sabin three times in a row now. That’s what I call earning it, I want a title shot.

Kaz stares deep into the eyes of Larry, full of ambition, whilst Larry just shrugs it off.

Larry Zbyszko: Whoa, kid, really? You’ve been here two months and you’re already asking for a title shot.

Frankie Kazarian: You’re damn right. I’ve beaten the champion.

No hesitation from Frankie, as Larry rubs his chin, thinking.

Larry Zbyszko: I’ve got some good news and some bad news. The bad news is Chris Sabin isn’t here tonight. The good news is I like your style, and I like your gusto. If you want a title shot so bad, knock yourself out. You can fight AJ Styles tonight!

WHOA! Big announcement there as Kazarian accepts Larry’s handshake and is suddenly getting a shot at the NWA World Heavyweight Championship tonight. Kazarian is all smiles, until he takes a few deep breaths, and realises he needs to be ready for the opportunity of a lifetime…

Match Five
Jerry Lynn, New Jack and The Sandman vs. Justin Credible, Mike Awesome and Slash w/Father James Mitchell

Considering the guys involved, much like the previous match, this was just carnage. There is plenty of hatred here, so this was basically just a brawl for the most part. The only time this changes is when Credible and Lynn manage to be the only two in the ring. The action isn’t the best, but since they are such marks for themselves, they try and wrestle together and show how technical they are when in together.

They keep going at it again, until the other four men eventually interrupt, and it becomes mayhem all over again. As things breakdown, Lynn manages to get Credible down, before ascending to the top rope. Lynn remains perched on top, waiting for Credible to get back up… WHEN LYNN GETS PUSHED OFF THE TOP ROPE…

BY SHANE DOUGLAS!!!

The negative reaction from the fans is gigantic, but the referee is too busy trying to control everything else and doesn’t see Douglas’ interference. As Lynn gets back to his feet, albeit in pain… CREDIBLE NAILS HIM WITH A SUPERKICK!!!

Credible looks around and notices that nobody is close to interfering. Credible drags Lynn up by the hair, before hoisting him high in the air… THAT’S INCREDIBLE!!!

CREDIBLE PINS LYNN…1…2…3!!!

Winners: Justin Credible, Mike Awesome and Slash via pinfall @ 10:44

Despite the bell ringing, there is no real break in the action as both teams continue to fight. The issue for the extremists though is that Shane Douglas gets involved now, meaning there is a four on three numbers advantage.

Utilising the numbers advantage, The New Church and Douglas go to work, slowly but surely beating down their foes. Once Lynn, Jack and Sandman are all in trouble, at the request of Father James Mitchell, Slash pulls a TABLE out from under the ring.

Slash sets the table up on the outside, whilst Awesome gets back into the ring, taking Lynn with him. The rest of The New Church follow in, watching… AS AWESOME PREPS TO AWESOME BOMB LYNN THROUGH THE OUTSIDE TABLE!!!

NO!!!

WHACK!!!

AWESOME GETS WHACKED IN THE BACK WITH A STEEL CHAIR…

BY JULIO DINERO!!!

ALEXIS LAREE
is with him, and she swings wildly, as the remainder of The New Church run for the hills.

Having dropped Lynn, Awesome wants to stay and fight but Mitchell urges him to exit with them. Eventually Awesome listens, and for the first time in weeks, the odds are against The New Church, with The Gathering and Team Extreme outnumbering them. With that being the case, they continue to walk away, but Mitchell does not look happy…

Now we get another video package…

***

This video package focuses on the current NWA World Heavyweight Championship match for next week’s show between champion AJ STYLES and challenger D’LO BROWN.

April 30th (first show in this BTB) – AJ Styles and D’Lo Brown made quite the prominent team, defeating David Young and Sonny Siaki. Earlier in the night in an interview, AJ made it clear he has his sights sets on capture the NWA World Heavyweight Championship.

May 7th – In a tag team rematch from the week before, AJ and D’Lo look even more impressive in victory. Styles gets the win after a Frog Splash, which our commentary say D’Lo taught him how to perform the move. Later on in the night, both agree to work together in the Gauntlet For The Gold match until it comes down to the two of them. AJ enters the match at number one and D’Lo at number four. They make it to the final three when D’Lo surprisingly eliminates AJ. After that, D’Lo goes on to lose to Jeff Jarrett.

May 14th – In an awkward backstage interview, AJ is a little surprised that D’Lo eliminated him from the Gauntlet For The Gold before they made it to the final two. D’Lo says they had an agreement, but he saw an opening and took it, AJ would have done the same thing. Styles accepts that and they discuss beating Jarrett and Raven in a tag tonight, which would basically earn them a title shot anyway.

They do go on to beat Raven and Jarrett in the main event when Jarrett turns on Raven, allowing D’Lo to get the pin.

May 21st – Despite both having ambition for the World Title, AJ and D’Lo get a shot at the NWA World Tag Team Championships. They fall to Triple X though. After the match, D’Lo talks about how they are being thrown in the tag scene because SOMEBODY doesn’t want them near the World Title. They need to go their own ways. AJ agrees and they shake hands, having a seemingly amicable split.

May 28th – AJ and D’Lo are booked against each other in a number one contender’s match for the World Title. They have a joint interview in the back, both full of respect for other, agreeing that the best man will win.

AJ defeated D’Lo with the Styles Clash, after RAVEN interfered and hit D’Lo with an Evenflow DDT!

June 4th – Raven is preoccupied so D’Lo has to settle for getting revenge on one of his followers, by defeating JULIO DINERO.

Meanwhile, after his win last week, AJ Styles defeats Jeff Jarrett and Raven in a Triple Threat match to win the NWA World Title. AJ wins after help from VINCE RUSSO.

June 11th – Russo and AJ officially announce their partnership to the world. D’Lo interrupts and shakes AJ’s hand and congratulates him on the title. He almost warns AJ about Russo.

Despite their difference of opinion, AJ and D’Lo tag in the main event against Americas Most Wanted. AMW get the win after D’Lo argues with Russo, refusing to use a baseball bat that Russo threw into the ring.

After the match, Brown and Russo argue and D’Lo looks to grab him, but AJ whacks D’Lo with the title from behind, solidifying his heel turn in the process.

June 18th – Russo uses his political stroke to have Brown banned from the arena.

June 25th – AJ Styles and D’Lo Brow fight in an impromptu Steel Cage Match which ends as a No Contest. Russo gets involved for AJ, and then Jeff Jarrett makes the save and the match falls apart.

Later in the night, Russo says he’ll get somebody to beat up D’Lo on tonight’s show, and then AJ will defend against D’Lo on July 9th.

NEXT WEEK… AJ STYLES VS. D’LO BROWN…

FOR THE NWA WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP?

***

Once the video package is complete, MIKE TENAY and DON WEST discuss the potential card for next week’s show:

AJ STYLES WILL DEFEND THE NWA WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP AGAINST D’LO BROWN (if he retains tonight).

After the cheap finish, KID KASH AND RON KILLINGS WILL MEET AGAIN, THIS TIME IN A FALLS COUNT ANYWHERE MATCH.

CHRIS SABIN WILL FINALLY DEFEND THE TNA X DIVISION CHAMPIONSHIP AGAINST THE MAN WHO BEAT HIM THREE TIMES IN A ROW, FRANKIE KAZARIAN.

EXTREME VS. THE NEW CHURCH… JERRY LYNN VS. JUSTIN CREDIBLE.

JULIO DINERO WILL LOOK FOR REVENGE FOR RAVEN WHEN HE FACES SHANE DOUGLAS.

EXTREME VS. THE NEW CHURCH… MIKE AWESOME AND SINN VS. NEW JACK AND THE SANDMAN.

Match Six
NWA World Heavyweight Championship Match
AJ Styles (c) w/Vince Russo defends against Frankie Kazarian

Frankie tries hard, looks okay, and gets in a fair bit of offense, but at this point in time, AJ could make anybody look good. They have a good match, and whilst Frankie has a good showing, the champ never truly looks in trouble. When he’s ready to finish things off, AJ manhandles Frankie… AND NAILS THE STYLES CLASH!!!

AJ ROLLS INTO THE COVER…1…2…3!!!

Winner: AJ Styles via pinfall @ 13:35

Russo applauds from the outside, whilst AJ gets his hand raised by the referee. Styles celebrates with his title, getting boos from the fans, before he looks down at Kazarian.

AJ drops his title and heads up to the top rope. The champ mocks the D’Lo head wobble… AND AJ COMES OFF WITH A FROG SPLASH ON KAZARIAN!!!

Styles looks set to do more damage, when the fans begin to cheer. Russo warns AJ and Styles manages to slide out of the ring…

JUST AS D’LO BROWN slides in!!!

AJ decides to bail, clutching his title as he and Russo back up the ramp. Meanwhile, D’Lo stands tall in the ring, signalling that he will be the champion after next week…

It’s another TNA show, meaning another night where The Asylum is jam packed with the Total Non-Stop Action faithful chanting “TNA, TNA, TNA”. The atmosphere is electric tonight, with a lot of fans carrying signs related to tonight’s HUGE main event where AJ Styles will defend the NWA World Heavyweight Championship against D’Lo Brown.

The fans continue to hold up their end of the bargain, making an incredible amount of noise. Meanwhile we head to the commentary booth, where MIKE TENAY and DON WEST formally welcome everybody to the show, and get into tonight’s card…

AJ STYLES DEFENDS THE NWA WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP AGAINST HIS FORMER MENTOR, D’LO BROWN.

AFTER EEKING OUT A CHEAP VICTORY LAST WEEK, KID KASH WILL ONCE AGAIN FACE RON KILLINGS… THIS TIME IN A FALLS COUNT ANYWHERE MATCH.

AFTER LOSING TO THIS MAN THREE TIMES IN A ROW, CHRIS SABIN WILL DEFEND HIS TNA X DIVISION CHAMPIONSHIP AGAINST FRANKIE KAZARIAN.

THE BATTLE BETWEEN TEAM EXTREME AND THE NEW CHURCH CONTINUES WHEN TWO OLD RIVALS REUNITE… JERRY LYNN VS. JUSTIN CREDIBLE.

JULIO DINERO LOOKS FOR REVENGE FOR RAVEN IN SINGLES ACTION AGAINST SHANE DOUGLAS.

MORE EXTREME/NEW CHURCH WAR AS MIKE AWESOME AND SINN FACE NEW JACK AND THE SANDMAN IN TAG TEAM ACTION.

Match One
Mike Awesome and Sinn vs. New Jack and The Sandman

Awesome was dominant as per usual, so after taking care of Sinn, Jack and Sandman worked together to beat up Awesome outside the ring. The big man holds his own, despite the two on one attack, however they are eventually able to ram him into the crowd barricade. Having momentarily taken care of Awesome, they get back into the ring.

New Jack stands guard whilst Sandman climbs his way to the top rope… ROLLING ROCK ONTO SINN!!!

THE SANDMAN LIES ON TOP FOR THE PIN…1…2…3!!!

Winners: New Jack and The Sandman via pinfall @ 4:32

The crowd pop loudly for the feel good start to the night, as it feels like the first time in a while, the former ECW guys have gotten one over on The New Church. As Jack and Sandman celebrate inside the ring, in the process of cracking open some beers, a furious Mike Awesome has worked back to his feet on the outside.

Awesome looks to climb back onto the apron, and he’s quickly joined by JUSTIN CREDIBLE, who has run down from the back. The Sandman and New Jack have no idea, now drinking some beers… WHEN THEY ARE ATTACKED FROM BEHIND BY AWESOME AND CREDIBLE!!!

They stomp all over them, even getting help from the now recovered Sinn… UNTIL CRACK!!!

SINN GETS SMACKED IN THE SKULL WITH A STEEL CHAIR!!!

BY JERRY LYNN!!!

This draws the attention of Credible and Awesome, who both quickly leave the ring, with Lynn swinging the chair wildly at them.

They are annoyed on the outside, dragging Sinn from the ring, whilst Lynn checks on his fallen comrades.

Once Jack and Sandman are back up, Lynn hands them the steel chair and motions for them to leave. They seem confused but Lynn assures them, and they listen.

As Jack and Sandman leave the ring, he points at Credible and says, “LET’S DO THIS NOW”!

Credible nods in agreement, ready to get their scheduled match underway now. Matching Lynn’s energy, Credible points at Sinn and tells him to leave, and Sinn does.

Awesome looks set to leave to, but Credible grabs him and says, “YOU STAY WITH ME, BIG MAN”!

The fans boo the cowardly behaviour from Credible, before he takes a deep breath and steps into the ring, prepared to rekindle an old rivalry…

Match Two
Jerry Lynn vs. Justin Credible w/Mike Awesome

For once, these two don’t try and put on a classic, starting with average chain wrestling. Instead, they just fight. It’s hated fuelled basic brawling in the early stages, which then turns into a decent back and forth match. Both men trade the advantage, looking close to putting the other way, but neither can quite get there.

Looking to change that, when in charge, Lynn looks towards the crowd and signals for the Cradle Piledriver. Lynn grabs Credible, getting him in position for the CRADLE PILEDRIVER…

WHEN MIKE AWESOME LEAPS ONTO THE APRON!!!

This immediately garners the attention of Lynn, and he’s forced to discard Credible, who crumbles to the canvas. A frustrated Lynn charges towards Awesome, LYNN DROPKICKS AWESOME, SENDING HIM CRASHING DOWN TO THE FLOOR!!!

Big time pop from the fans for that, as Lynn turns to head back towards Credible… STRAIGHT INTO A SUPERKICK!!!

CREDIBLE HOOKS THE LEG…1…2…NO!!! LYNN GETS A SHOULDER UP!!!

Credible is flabbergasted, he thought he had it there, but alas the match continues. From here though, it’s less back and forth as now Credible maintains a distinct advantage over Lynn. He’s still unable to put Lynn away though, and eventually the tide turns, with Jerry fighting back.

It’s ‘Groundhog Day’ as after fighting back, Lynn is able to set it up again… CRADLE PILEDRIVER!!!

NO!!! THIS TIME LYNN IS DISTRACTED BY THE ARRIVAL OF…

FATHER JAMES MITCHELL AND SHANE DOUGLAS!!!

Lynn walks towards them, barking at them to stay away, and even the referee does the same. With both having their back turned from him, Credible sneaks from behind… LOW BLOW TO LYNN!!!

The ref doesn’t see it, but he senses something is going on, turning just in time to see CREDIBLE HIT THE THAT’S INCREDIBLE!!!

CREDIBLE WITH THE COVER…1…2…3!!!

Winner: Justin Credible via pinfall @ 10:03

Well, there goes the good start to the night for the extreme team. Order is restored for The New Church as Credible picks up the hard fought victory. He celebrates hard, amongst Awesome, Douglas and Mitchell, getting major heat from the fans. It doesn’t matter though, at least for tonight, Credible has won a high profile singles match…

In the back, LARRY ZBYSZKO is standing around, having conveniently just finished a phone call, when a pissed off JEFF JARRETT approaches. Larry shoots him a knowing smirk, but Jarrett isn’t pleased.

Jeff Jarrett: Oh come on, Zbyszko, don’t give me that look. I can’t believe you gave some kid a title shot against AJ before I got one.

The ‘Living Legend’ shrugs, not looking all that comfortable with the current situation.

Larry Zbyszko: My hands are tied, Jeff. Russo’s not budging on this thing. He’s convincing everybody he can, and he won’t allow you to get in the ring with AJ. Right now, I don’t see a path to a Jeff Jarrett title shot.

‘Double J’ shakes his head in utter disbelief.

Jeff Jarrett: I can’t believe this, this is bullshit. This should never have got this far, I should still be the champion now. No more excuses, Zbyszko, I want the winner of AJ versus D’Lo. Figure it out.

Jeff turns and storms off, leaving Zbyszko to ponder, but not looking all that confident that he has a solution…

At ringside, MIKE TENAY has removed his headset, and he stands up, microphone in hand for the entire arena to hear him.

Mike Tenay: Firstly, I’d like to apologise for the lack of content I have provided lately. I had a three part pre recorded interview with Chris Sabin scheduled, but it never happened. At the last minute, much to my dismay, Chris Sabin called TNA offices and said he wouldn’t be showing up for the interview. As a matter of fact, he claimed his agent said he was above something like my interview. I’m not sure how much more of this we have to deal with. Sabin’s getting a really big head lately.

Tenay says his bit in his typically fiery manner, before putting his headset back on as Sabin makes his way out for the next match…

Match Three
TNA X Division Championship Match

Chris Sabin (c) defends against Frankie Kazarian

According to the commentary team, ever since taking the Styles Clash last week, Kazarian has been battling a bit of a neck injury. It doesn’t take long for Sabin to identify that this is a weak point for Kazarian, so of course, the champion starts to really zero in all his offense on the neck. Already coming up short in one title match last week though, Kazarian powers through and is able to keep things competitive.

The other part that frustrates Sabin is that much like the previous three matches where Kaz has beat him, Kaz has the champ well scouted. Every time Sabin goes for a big move or the Cradle Shock, Kazarian already has an escape plan mapped out.

It’s infuriating for Sabin who starts to lose his head, and it allows for Kaz to take over. He begins having his way with Sabin, almost putting him away several times. Unable to do so though, Kaz knows he needs to land the killer blow. The challengers yanks Sabin to his feet… WAVE OF THE FUTURE!!!

NO!!! SABIN CLINGS ONTO THE REFEREE, STOPPING KAZ FROM FINISHING THE MOVE!!!

Sabin pulls the referee into Kazarian, forcing Frankie to break his grip around Sabin’s neck. As Kazarian and the referee stagger, SABIN GETS A LOW BLOW ON KAZARIAN!!!

IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWED BY A SCHOOL BOY PIN…

AND SABIN GETS HIS FEET ON THE MIDDLE ROPES…1…2…3!!!

Winner: Chris Sabin via pinfall @ 9:11

Amongst loud boos from the fans, Sabin immediately rolls underneath the bottom rope. He knows he stole one tonight, and after grabbing his title, the X Division Champ is keen to quickly hightail it up the ramp.

Meanwhile, inside of the ring, still favouring his balls, Kaz is mad, having lost his second title opportunity in as many weeks…

And now, it’s time for a video package…

June 25th – Kid Kash defeated Konnan in less than four minutes after nailing the Money Maker! After the match, Kash looked to continue to attack, until Killings mad ethe save and the two men had a huge brawl. It kept going until security and referees intervened.

Last Week – Kash and Killings finally do battle, however Kash fakes an angle injury, and when the referee keeps Killings away, Kash gets a School Boy whilst holding the tights for the cheap victory…

KID KASH VS. RON KILLINGS… FALLS COUNT ANYWHERE NEXT!!!

Backstage, in what resembles a tiny communal locker room, D’LO BROWN is shown warming up for his title shot tonight. He’s already in his wrestling gear, performing some squats, looking extremely focused…

We now transition seemingly into what looks like SEX’s old locker room, where VINCE RUSSO stands, encouraging the NWA WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION AJ STYLES. AJ looks settled and ready to go, as he pulls up his elbow pads.

Vince Russo: You’re the champ… This is all you tonight, champ. Nobody is better than you right now.

The soundtrack of compliments continues from Russo, whilst the champ continues to get ready…

And now, another video package…

A video plays highlighting the NWA WORLD TAG TEAM CHAMPIONS, AMERICAS MOST WANTED. We see some of CHRIS HARRIS and JAMES STORM’s finest moments, as a way to remind us that our champs exist, as I had no plans for them for this show…

Match Four
Julio Dinero vs. Shane Douglas w/Father James Mitchell

Poor little Dinero tries his ass off, fired up and looking to get revenge for Raven. He tries and he tries, running on emotions, but he just isn’t quite enough to take down ‘The Franchise’. Once he’s done toying with his food. DOUGLAS DRILLS DINERO WITH A SIDE BELLY TO BELLY SUPLEX!!!

DOUGLAS WITH THE LATERAL PRESS…1…2…3!!!

Winner: Shane Douglas via pinfall @ 4:53

Typically, the action doesn’t stop after the match. Much to the dismay of the fans, Douglas invites Mitchell into the ring, and together, the devilish duo stomps the life out of Dinero.

Douglas even has time to go to the outside and bring a steel chair back inside. Douglas sits up the chair like it’s ready to be sat on and then sends Dinero off the ropes… DROP TOE HOLD ONTO THE STEEL CHAIR!!!

Groans from the crowd for the uncomfortable landing for Dinero, whilst our commentators mention how that move is one of Raven’s specialties. The beatdown continues, until the fans begin to stir…

AS ALEXIS LAREE AND CM PUNK RUN DOWN THE RAMP!!!

But before they can get to the ring… PUNK GETS NAILED OUT OF NOWHERE WITH A LARIAT!!!

THANKS TO MIKE AWESOME!!!

Douglas smirks as Laree shrieks and backs away from Awesome. Meanwhile, Douglas picks up the leftovers of Dinero and throws him outside the ring…

WHERE DINERO GETS HIT OVER AND OVER AGAIN WITH A SINGAPORE CANE!!!

FROM JUSTIN CREDIBLE!!!

As usual, The New Church runs in numbers and they have the advantage, as Awesome drags Punk into position… AWESOME BOMB ON THE CONCRETE FLOOR!!!

Boos continue as Punk and Dinero are both in an awful amount of trouble now. Suddenly, a smirking Mitchell pulls something out of his pocket, and the fans begin to buzz in anticipation now.

Father James Mitchell looks to be prepping another fireball… WHEN ALEXIS LAREE JUMPS IN BETWEEN THE NEW CHURCH AND DINERO/PUNK!!!

The gutsy gal pleads with them to stop, tears running down her face, WHEN MITCHELL JUST SMILES AND SHOOTS THE FUCKING FIREBALL INTO LAREE’S FACE!!!

Holy shit! Laree is shrieking on the floor, holding her face. Referees, officials and medics run down to check on her, as The New Church all celebrate amongst themselves, shockingly content with what they’ve done tonight.

They all back up the ramp, having claimed or burned yet another victim…

Match Five
Falls Count Anywhere Match
Kid Kash vs. Ron Killings

With the stipulation at play, this is not a wrestling match. These two have an anger filled barroom brawl for the most part. It’s wild, it’s chaotic, it’s a typical Asylum Hardcore plunder fight. They are not restricted to the ring, they fight all around ringside, and basically all around the complete building. There’s plenty of brawling through the crowd, which makes it seem like Kash is heavily outnumbered, and they even fight in the bleachers.

Whilst it’s relatively even, eventually Killings does start to take over. It’s still nothing fancy, just punches, kicks, elbows, and knees, but it’s enough for Killings to beat Kash back through the crowd and over the barricade. A desperate Kash crawls away, to the side of the entrance ramp, trying to escape. Killings slowly follows but walks up the ramp and to the top of the stage instead. Kash is confused and looks around, getting back to his feet looking for Killings… CROSSBODY OFF THE STAGE TAKES OUT KID KASH!!!

A massive pop goes up for the move, followed by those famous “TNA” chants. The high risk move takes some out of Killings to though, as from this point onwards, he clearly favours his mid-section. This allows Kash to get back into the match as the two continue to fight anywhere but the ring, eventually making their way out to the parking lot.

It’s the middle of summer, so it’s hot and sticky in the lot, and Kash eventually gets the advantage. He tosses Kash onto the hood of the car and then follows him up… TRUTH OR CONSEQUENCES ON THE HOOD OF THE CAR!!!

TRUTH PUTS AN ARM OVER KASH… WHO HAS HIS SHOULDERS DOWN ON THE HOOD OF THE CAR…1…2…3!!!

Winner: Ron Killings via pinfall @ 13:45

Grunting and groaning after a brutal match, Killings gets his hand raised by the referee. You wouldn’t know it from the atmosphere in the parking lot, but the fans are jumping in excitement for the win by Killings.

He eventually staggers his way back into the arena, and with a toothy grin, ‘The Truth’ goes into the crowd to further celebrate. The celebration continues for a while, the fans loving any second of it… UNTIL WHACK!!!

A 2X4 GETS BROKEN ACROSS THE BACK OF KILLINGS’ HEAD!!!

BY KID KASH!!!

Truth slumps forward, and collapses face down, unconscious at the fans feet. Meanwhile, the equally hurt Kash stumbles backwards, falling onto one of the fans seats.

Kash sits next to the unconscious Killings, looking at him closely and yelling, “I AM THE REAL WINNER”!

It looks like yet again, despite losing a match tonight, Kash has found a way to come out on top in his feud with Killings…

It’s almost main event time, which means we need one last video package for the night…

July 2nd – D’Lo Brown came down to the ring all fired up, wanting to face AJ there and then, instead of waiting another seven days. Vince Russo hosed down this idea and instead put D’Lo in a match against his and AJ’s new bodyguard, MALICE. It was a hard fought match, but Brown picked up the win after some failed interference from Russo.

After the match, AJ Styles attacked D’Lo, until Jeff Jarrett made the save. Larry Zbyszko restored order and forced AJ to defend the title against Frankie Kazarian later in the night. AJ and Russo had no choice as AJ would reach over the limit of thirty day between title defences if he didn’t.

AJ defeated Kazarian in the main event. After the match, he hits a Frog Splash to mock D’Lo, however AJ is quick to flee when Brown runs down to get him some.

Match Six
NWA World Heavyweight Championship Match

AJ Styles (c) w/Vince Russo defends against D’Lo Brown

These two just have an undeniable chemistry and so add on the personal issues they now have, and this one is awesome. They give it their all for over ten plus minutes with neither man wavering, until it finally starts to look like Brown might be taking control. D’Lo takes AJ to the corner and hammers away… UNTIL A PANICED RUSSO GETS ON THE APRON!!!

D'LO CHARGES AND POPS RUSSO IN THE JAW WITH A RIGHT HAND… SENDING HIM FLYING OFF THE APRON!!!

For some reason, the ref hurries out of the ring to check on the fallen Russo. Inside of the ring, D’Lo goes back to work on AJ, until the fans begin murmuring. At the last possible moment, D’Lo turns and SIDESTEPS A CHARGING MALICE…

WHO ACCIDENTALLY TAKES STYLES’ HEAD OFF WITH A BIG BOOT!!!

Malice puts his hands on head, in complete shock… D’LO KICKS MALICE IN THE DICK!!!

Having been thrown in the ring earlier by Russo, Brown then picks up the NWA Title… TITLE SHOT TO THE SKULL OF MALICE!!!

The bodyguard rolls out of the ring, as D’Lo disposes of the belt… AND D’LO PINS AJ…

AND AT THE INSISTANCE OF THE CROWD, THE REF SLIDES BACK IN…

1…2…NO!!! AJ JUST ROLLS A SHOULDER OFF THE CANVAS!!!

The number one contender puts his hands on his head in shock, knowing how close he just was. After taking a moment to compose, Brown uses his strength to just bully AJ into position… POWERBOMB!!!

Instead of going for the pin, Brown begins bopping now, heading up to the top rope. He takes a moment… LO DOWN CONNECTS!!!

BROWN STAYS ON TOP FOR THE PIN…1…2…3…

NO!!! THE REFEREE STOPS COUNTING…

BECAUSE HE’S BEEN PULLED OUT OF THE RING…

BY DAVID YOUNG AND SONNY SIAKI!!!

With the ref on the outside, the former SEX members look to rush D’Lo inside the ring. Siaki gets to D’Lo first, charging at him… RUNNING STRAIGHT INTO A SKY HIGH!!!

Once back up, Brown is able to easily sidestep the sprinting Young, and he throws Young back outside the ring. It’s absolute carnage everywhere, as Brown looks back to the centre and sees that AJ is still down. D’Lo slowly but surely climbs to the top rope… LO DOWN!!!

IT CONNECTS!!!

BUT AJ HOLDS UP RUSSO’S BAT (WHICH RUSSO JUST SLID IN) TO HIT D’LO OUT OF MID AIR!!!

Barely able to move, Styles rolls the baseball bat out of the ring, AND AJ THEN DRAPES AN ARM OVER THE CHEST OF D’LO…

AND OF COURSE THE REF IS NO LONGER DISTRACTED BY SHENANIGANS AND READY TO COUNT…

1…2…3!!!

Winner: AJ Styles via pinfall @ 16:00

The heat is ungodly as I think people thought D’Lo was going to win night. Instead, the winner doesn’t look like much of a winner. He’s retained his title, but AJ is barely moving, lying on the canvas in agony.

But the match is over, and as of right now, like it or not, AJ Styles is still the best champ in the world.
