The build toward a title unification match between AEW Women's Champion Thunder Rosa and interim champion Toni Storm has begun.
In an interview with Bleacher Report posted Monday, Storm brought up Rosa when asked what is next for her.
"I guess my first thing would be to beat Thunder Rosa and stop this interim nonsense. That's kind of what's been bothering me. I think that's been bothering a lot of people because she's still calling herself the AEW Women's world champion and I'm the one here every week doing the work," she said.
Storm won the interim title at September's All Out in a four-way after Rosa pulled herself off the card due to a severe back injury. Storm has defended the title three times since then and will look for a fourth Tuesday when she defends against former champion Hikaru Shida in a first time ever singles matchup.
Rosa has been out of action since August and initially had to defend herself from speculation that the injury was a work to get out of defending against Storm at All Out. She initially thought she would be out of action for "a few months" but it's unknown when her return is targeted for.
After winning the title, Storm said in the post-event press conference that the interim tag was "not ideal. But Thunder Rosa says she's injured. Okay. So when she says she's not injured, she can come back and lose to me, and that will be the end of that."
