Skip to the match and tell me the dude isn't over as fuck. The crowd ate it up when he won the match

also the crowd was clearly bored w/ Goldberg

Nash WCW Title

I give him credit for booking this one dirty, still made Goldberg look strong. The sad part is EVERY WCW main event was booked dirty.

I feel like the video is heavily edited, to the point where i can really hear the crowd, but yeah from what i can hear it was pretty loud. To the defense of the other side, some of that pop had to be due to the fact that Goldberg's streak had ended, so of course the reaction was loud.

The crowd counts 1,2,3. They pop every time Nash raises his arms. Look at all of the NWO wolfpack shirts. And look at everyone jump up and down after Nash wins.

That was a pro-Nash crowd. I heard Goldberg sucks chants and cheers when he was tazed. The Goldberg express wasn't chugging along nearly as hard as people think it was by the end of '98.

With all the entertaining, innovative stuff happening on RAW; Goldberg started to go stale a lot sooner than he would have in any other era. He was a victim of the times.

The crowd always counts 1,2,3 in almost every match, that's nothing special. Nash's arm raise is a taunt, of course the fans are going to respond as they do with any wrestler, regardless of popularity. nWo was already established and that popularity crossed over, although I will attribute some of that to Nash even though it is a group. Goldberg got stale apparently, same comparisons could be made with some of the title reigns of today.

Cena is over, HHH is over do you want them to beat DZ for the WHC or Takers streak?

Of course Nash was crazy over with the whole Wolfpac thing, doesn't mean he had to break the streak (although in fairness, I can't think of a better option at the time, but that's WCW's problem, not mine.) Worse than this though was the Fingerpoke Of Doom that happened a week later...

I've always thought DDP would have been a great shout personally but his age played against him, plus you had Jericho who with the correct build could have become the top heel out of it. I'm still surprised that Hulk didn't do it in all honesty though.

Sometimes i think you're a bigger nash mark than some of these CM and Cena fans. you are like the BLFFL of Kevin Nash.

I do want Cena to break Taker's streak actually lol. It's one of those random things I've always wanted to see. I don't want Taker to retire undefeated and I don't know of anyone else who can handle it. So give it to Cena at Mania 30 in the Garden and use it to turn him heel. BOOM.

But these are just two random scenarios that have nothing to do with Nash. Nash was more over than Goldberg at that point and Goldberg was stale. People liked Nash for his honesty on the mic of basically shooting on everyone in WCW and WWF and he looked like a cool giant badass. So he was over and deserving of a world title run. Simple as that.

Cena beating DZ for the WHC if done properly would be great. Part of being a great champion is elevating the title to a better place than it was before, so dropping to a proven guy like Cena is better IMO than dropping to someone who may or may not take the ball and run with it.

Say you have a longstanding DZ/Cena feud and it ends w/ Dolph's 5 month reign being snapped at Summerslam in a classic main event, then hell yea. Go for it.

As for HHH beating Taker. No thank you, but again, that is a pointless comparison because HHH is old and semi-retired. That was prime-Nash winning the belt.

Not sure how much WCW you watched at the time or how much you've looked into the history but DDP or Jericho were never going to break the streak. Of all of the realistic options of major players in the politics that could have broken it (Hogan, Nash, Flair, Steiner eventually, ect) Nash was the best choice by far. People want to pretend there was some Kurt Angle or Brett Hart or HBK waiting in the wings at the time and it just wasn't the case. Jericho is an all time great, yes, but his standing in that lockerroom in 1998 was nothing like it eventually became in WWF. He was feuding with Konan for the TV title on this card... he was getting a gradual push, something I often see people wanting in modern day wrestling on this site.

So while it was a travesty that Jericho and Goldberg never had a legit PPV match after the hilarious 'feud' they had (one sided because Goldberg never acknowledged it until he squashed Jericho) Jericho breaking the streak was never a serious possibility, nor the correct line of thinking at that point.

EDIT: oh and to Kev obviously the FPOD wiped out any and all booking decisions of Goldberg losing to Nash, be them good or bad. That was just egregious and unacceptable. But I'm looking at Nash over Goldberg independently of what happened after. Nobody can defend that, it's probably the #1 booking reason WCW is dead today

All I'm saying is I'm 100% positive the video surprised most of these noobs. They all picture Goldberg losing to Nash in their minds and they think the place is rioting like "HOW COULD NASH EVER DO THIS. THIS SICK SON IF A BITCH. HE BOOKED HIMSELF TO END THE STREAK THAT MOTHERFUCKER. FUCK HIM. WORST WRESTLER EVER. ELBOW, ELBOW, HIP, SIDESLAM, JACKKNIFE. BORING. FUCK."

when in fact they loved Nash and were sick of Goldberg. come at me haters

I made a thread awhile back that Jericho could have possibly ended the streak, the logic being that if he can beat Austin and Rock back to back to unify the world titles and people accept it, then they could have built him up as a serious heel and had him beat the streak, say early '99 or something.
