Here are some ratings notes from the 5/8 Impact. The opening match featuring a slew of X Division wrestlers (Jimmy Rave vs. Consequences Creed vs. Johnny Devine vs. Shark Boy vs. Petey Williams vs. Curry Man) lost 26,000 viewers. A bunch of backstage segments as well as a video package on LAX lost 144,000 viewers. The entrances for the Knockouts Pole match drew 39,000 additional viewers. The conclusion of the match and Sting vs. James Storm gained 231,000 viewers to do a 1.06 peak rating. However, Impact lost all of the viewers they had gained in the previous two matches within a matter of moments. The Kip James vs. Matt Morgan match lasted a total of three minutes and managed to lose 262,000 viewers in the process. The main event featuring Kurt Angle & Scott Steiner vs. Samoa Joe & Kevin Nash gained 13,000 viewers and did a 0.87 rating. The show drew 0.91 overall rating.

-- The Kaz, Lethal & Dutt vs. Rock 'n' Rave Infection & Johnny Devine match and "Black Machismo" Jay Lethal's marriage proposal to SoCal Val following it lost 265,000 viewers for the 5/15 Impact. Kurt Angle's speech asking Karen to come back and a LAX vs. Motor City Machine Guns match lost 88,000 viewers, and that was at the 10:00 hour. The main event featuring Booker Team 3D & Booker T vs. Samoa Joe, Christian Cage and Rhino lost 63,000 viewers, drawing a 0.87 rating. As if that isn't enough, the quarter hour featuring the vignette of Eric Young looking for Elvis and Sting talking about his past with Ultimate Warrior drew Impact's lowest rated quarter hour of the year with a 0.78 rating. The only segments to not lose any viewers were matches featuring the women. The Gail Kim vs. Awesome Kong match following the marriage proposal segment stopped the bleeding and gained 25,000 viewers. However, the biggest gain of the show was reserved for surprise, surprise, Velvet Love & Angelina Love. "The Beautiful People" vs. ODB & Roxxi Laveaux match managed to pull in 176,000 viewers. This was the lowest rated show of the year with a 0.87 overall rating.

-- In case you're wondering what TNA's strongest viewer demographic is, its 50-year old men (and up) as apparently they enjoy the slew of women and references to several year old wrestling angles the most. For instance, the 5/15 show drew a 0.87 overall rating with 1.1 million viewers, but the 50 and up Male demo drew a 1.02 rating. In comparison, the show did a 0.62 in Males 18-34 and 0.56 in Males 35-49. TNA's weakest demographic appears to be Women 18-49, and by a wide margin. Impact drew a 0.21 rating with them for the 5/15 show and a 0.18 for the 5/8 show. The 5/8 show also drew a 0.97 in Males 50 (and up), 0.69 in Males 35-49, and 0.55 in Males 18-34. The show did a 0.91 rating with 1.2 million viewers.

Damn I would never guessed but TNA's biggest draw are the knockouts lol and I am amazed at the number of viewers the X Division seems to be losing. Oh Yeah and Kip James seems to be losing a lot of viewers TNA should get him off TV.

This is why TNA doesn't push the X-division. I know you guys cream your pants over x-division matches, but if they're losing viewers week after week because of it, theres really no reason to showcase it.

This should prolly be in the ratings thread, but it looks like it may add a bit more discussion than normal, so meh.

But yeah, the strongest ratings have always been the knockouts, and with good reason.

to sum it all up KIp James doesn't draw.... You would think they would of learned this when he was in WWE...

It's pretty simple.. if kip doesn't draw in WWE.. Does tna really think he would for them...

The LAX video package losing viewers suprised me the most...

Maybe next Week Impact TNA could leave out Kip James and see if they do better

50 Year Old Males, that's really creepy.

Maybe the drop is because it's the beginning of Summer/Finals Season and all us wrestling fanboys are studying are asses off. I guess wrestling will heat up more towards the end of June, that's when the product gets better. But if the rating keeps going down, I don't know if they can be saved.

I am really surprised at the X-Divisioners losing them ratings!!!

I have a feeling that after Slammiversary with everything that is going on it will shake up the results of Impact. Maybe if something shocking happens then people will tune in to watch it, I don't have any ideas as to what could happen though...I can't believe the Knockouts go the best ratings :smh

if all goes bad, they could just try out impact with an all knockout episode and see how that does

The knockouts draw with good reason, entertaining moreso than the main event a lot of the time.

^ The only reason the Knockouts draw is because people who watch Spike TV (usually men) see the Beatiful People and they watch just because they are hot. They don't care about wrestling. Also, I think people need to give TNA a chance, their are soo many people on the internet who refuse to watch TNA, and I just dont understand why. The product is actually pretty good right now, Joe is the champion, AJ is turning face and fueding with Kurt Angle, The World X Cup is returning soon, and we've had 2 good PPVs in a row.

Well there is the playoffs going on, people watch stuff like that when the games is going on, I was doing that but on different parts of the show. The X Division does draw just they keep putting the same people in it since everyone else basically left it. If you use more people like Creed up against like Lethal and have a competitive match to get him over a bit and keept shuffling it up not have the same guys over and over like don't use Sharkboy on every single show, same with Curryman and stuff like that, use Kaz by himself on one on one matches not tag matches, also stop using too much tag X Division matches it gets old quick, I rather see a competitive one on one match once in a while. And if you see people like Kip James who loses fans stop using him, yes everyone remembers him from DX and all that but he isn't important enough and too old for people to give a crap about him. Specially if he sucks so much in the ring right now. I am very surprised the LAX package lost that many fans, they are over as hell right now, I kinda like Hector Guerrero in there, he isn't Konnan but he does remind me of Eddie and I like anything that reminds of one my favorite wrestlers of all time, I like him flirting with Selinas it makes me laugh lol and something I would do if I would ever meet her lol.
