According to the IMPACT Wrestling Website, there will be Live IMPACT Wrestling shows on both August 30 and September 6th (Thursdays). There has been no official confirmation on whether or not IMPACT Wrestling will remain live.

If they go back to taped shows I see a lot of excitement going down a bit, granted the product has been good, but the live aspect makes it that much better. Hopefully they see some more jumps in the ratings as going live full time is something they have to do.

They definitely need to stay live, just makes for a much more enjoyable show in my opinion. Also, I believe Prime (could be wrong) suggested it in the shoutbox a few nights ago, but would it be too far-fetched for them to go to Friday nights and compete against Smackdown? Sure they may not get as high of ratings, but it'd be a much smarter idea than when they went up against Raw. I'd watch a live Impact over a taped Smackdown, and I really don't think it'd hurt TNA much if it failed because they could easily just go back to Thursdays if it did. This also may get WWE to put a little more emphasis in Smackdown, so it could be a win for fans of both companies. Just a though.

^ It'll take awhile to over take SD in the ratings but I agree that going live is a good idea, surely if people are not so sure what will happen it is better.

Live Impact means you can't see if it's a good show. Thus the thinking it will already suck and skip it.

Live Impact means you can't see if it's a good show. Thus taking a chance to see if the show will be good, and the way Impact has been lately chances are that it is going to be a good show.

Hardly a valid statement considering people are more likely to watch something if they don't know what's going to happen than if they do.

TNA had that mindset in 2010, how did that workout?

They went up against Raw, you'd be hard pressed to find many fans that would watch Impact over Raw. Smackdown is a different story, especially with it being taped and Impact being live. The ratings obviously wouldn't be an instant change, and there's a good chance they didn't change at all, and TNA stayed in the 1.0 range, but there's still little to lose with trying.

The thing TNA could lose is more money than they lose now, live tv costs more.

They've been doing live Impacts for the past couple months, and they'll most likely continue it once summer ends. I doubt they even go against Smackdown in a Friday night spot, just said it might not be a bad idea, but as for live Impacts on Thursdays, they seem to be staying.

SD is consistently the top 1 or 2 cable shows on Friday. Sure less people watch tv overall that day compared to Monday or Thursday, but the only show on cable that gets the SD like numbers is Common Law on USA. You are asking them to be murdered with less households watching on average.

The only way they ever move to Friday is if Vince moves SD back to Thursday and runs them away from fear.

Thursdayas are the most watched night of tv as a whole during non-football season across the board for cable and broadcast. They stay at a 1 on those nights, and you want them on a night when less people statistically watch tv against cables top show that night on a better network?

The other point to be made is that even if it stayed taped with the way Impact seems to be improving as of late then the fans would be more inclined to tune in anyway.
