TNA will air a "Destination X" episode of Impact Wrestling in 7/18 from Louisville, Kentucky.

The former PPV was always a X-Division-centric event. Last year's event began a new annual attraction where the reigning TNA X-Division champion could turn his title in for a shot at the TNA champion, setting up Austin Aries defeating Bobby Roode for the title.

With the elimination of Destination X as a PPV event now that the promotion has pulled back on the number of live PPV broadcasts they do a year, this year's show has been moved to an Impact broadcast.
Tickets for the event will go on sale Friday AM.

Smart move by TNA. It is always a good idea to have a few special episodes each year for Impact to liven things up and to keep things interesting. Easy sell for the show and it should draw them a decent rating. I like the concept of the X-Division champion cashing in the title for a World title shot, can't see it being successful this time but it is still a good idea.

Like the idea of the show, but think it devalues the X Title to have someone trade in a shot for a world title shot.

I don't think it does. TNA has always presented the TNA World title as the ultimate goal in the company so it makes sense that wrestlers would trade anything, even other titles, to get a shot at winning it. If TNA had presented the X-Division title as an equal to the World title then trading it in would devalue it.

Surprised they remembered the X-Division title for World Title shot thing honestly.

Given peoples love for this PPV, i'm surprised they didn't do this as a One Night Only PPV instead of half of the shite ones they taped already, although I guess given how far they taped those damn things in advance, it wouldn't have worked really.

Your forgetting that when TNA was at its peak in the glory days than the X Title was treated equal to the world title and in fact it is what made them stand out above other companies. Also if you think of it as their Cruiserweight league then winning the title should mean they are the best in that catagory in TNA.

The idea works as a one off, but don't see it sustaining year after year.

It's an option that they don't have to use every year. You can always have the X Champ saying the X title is more prestigious than the heavyweight title.
Hopefully they put more effort into the planning than 4th Jan 2010 when whoever won it could barely get out, while Hardy very easily got to the top.
Would be good to see Hardy in the match. I would also like to see the return of King of the Mountain.

They only introduced this cash in concept last year so the standing of the X Division title a decade ago has no relevance now. Yes it may not have made sense in 2004/5 when it could be argued that the X Division title was more important than the World title but it doesn't matter now. When it was introduced last year the World title was the clear number one title in TNA so it made sense that the X Division champion would want to trade in the title for a shot at the top title. Even if they think of the X Division champion as the top crusierweight by cashing in they get to see if they are the best wrestler in the company, not just the best lightweight.

I was glad when they announced this on Impact!. It's gonna be a special night for sure. Sabin/Bully doesn't sound too bad especially since this isn't a REAL PPV this year.

And I also didn't mind the cash in thing. It was actually something that worked last year and when TNA usually tries new things they are usually quite horrible. Sabin may not be on Aries' level but this not being an actual PPV makes up for that.
