Let's put it this way, WWE needs TNA to have entertaining storylines. Because when WWE feels there is an alternative out there, one that at least puffs up it's chest and makes it SEEM like it's a legit alternative, they will step up their writing game to keep WWE interesting. When WWE had virtually no competition we had the Triple H years where he held onto the title for forever and a day and nearly buried the entire roster of RAW. They had no competition so they had no reason NOT to.
I think if WWE bought out TNA, most of the roster would sparce out to Ring of Honor, AAA, NJPW or retirement. WWE MIGHT pick up guys like Hardy or Angle in order to job them out for leaving the company under the circumstances that they did. And they might pick up guys like Beer Money for the tag division. Otherwise I don't see any of the knockouts, legends, or mid carders that were WWE rejects in the first place being given a second chance. Except for Maybe the Pope. I think he's proven that he can hang under the pressure of main eventing pay per views for WWE to give him a second chance.
