TNA CEO Eric Bischoff Announces Official Rules for TNA Impact!
"Good evening, TNA fans. If you have not seen, No Surrender was just a few days ago. We will be running a re-run of the Pay-Per-View next Sunday for those who have not seen this incredible show yet! In other news, there has admittedly been some uncertainty regarding the rules of our flagship program these few months. In conjunction with the championship committee, we have formalized the rules for Impact! This rule-set is as follows:
- Singles and Tag Matches have a time limit of 15-minutes, to account for our program being 90 minutes; this will allow for a minimum of at least five matches a week, barring special circumstances as dictated by the Championship Committee. Trios matches will have a 20-minute time limit, and Battle Royales will have no time limit. TNA's Hardcore Division will also be exempt from time limits, to account for its violent and unpredictable nature.
- In the case of a time limit draw, there will be a member of the Championship Committee who will determine the victor via point-based system.
- TNA Impact! will be officially implementing a win/loss ranking system to determine an order of contenders. This system will begin at the next episode of TNA Impact!
- We at TNA are also pleased to announce the creation of a TNA Television Championship, to be defended weekly on TNA Impact! This title will serve to give those who hold the belt the opportunity to challenge for a higher-tier title under several strict conditions: 1.) Must hold the title for at least three months from date of winning the championship, or successfully defend the title for a minimum of twelve challengers. 2.) Must maintain a minimum overall win/loss rate of .600. 3.) Must declare their intent to challenge for a title within 30 days of losing the Television Title. Eligible championship contention involves the TNA X-Division Championship, the TNA World Tag Team Championship, or the TNA World Heavyweight Championship.
With these rule changes, we hope to continue to make TNA Impact! an exciting and unique television experience to our audience in both the United States and Canada. Thank you!" ~ Eric Bischoff, Chief Executive Officer and Championship Committee Chairman
