Tito Ortiz Vs. Forrest Griffin III Set For July's UFC 148
by Josh Nason on Mar 20, 2012 1:11 AM EDT in UFC News

Former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Tito Ortiz will fight Forrest Griffin for a third time at July's UFC 148.

In what is expected to be his last fight, former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Tito Ortiz tweeted late Monday night that he will face Forrest Griffin for a third time at July's UFC 148.

Ortiz (16-10-1) had been campaigning for Griffin for some time and got his wish. The 37-year-old got a renewed lease on his UFC life with a big upset of Ryan Bader at UFC 132 in July 2011. The first round submission win snapped a five-fight winless streak. Following the win, Ortiz has put up consecutive TKO losses to Rashad Evans and Antonio Rogerio Nogueira.

Tito tweeted the news just a few minutes ago, and only a few sites have picked it up so far, but i included a print screen of Tito's twitter.

This fight is the dregs of MMA.

Solid card otherwise, I must add.

I think I'm going with Forrest in this one, hopefully Tito decides to actually retire and the same goes for Griffin.

Not actually sure tbf, Tito lost a blatant robbery last time and Griffin hasnt looked half decent for years.

Tito tends to do a Lesnar and go foetal when being hit though so I don't think he'll handle a brawl. I'd probably give Griffin the edge but could easily see a fired up Tito choking him out, being his last fight and all.

So basically I typed all that to say Im sitting on the fence...

I guess I'm on the fence a little, as i do think Tito is going to come into this fight fired up and determined and it could be something similar to when he fought Ryan Bader and choked him out last Summer. I'm just hoping that Forrest takes the win.

Basically agree with all of you. I've always thought Tito was awful and did more trash talking than training and winning and although I've always been a Griffin fan, his only real good attribute is his chin which is pretty good. He can take a decent beating, but other than that he's usually heavily outmatched.

I think Tito can win unless Forrest starts doing body shots. Tito can't take those very well. Shad and Lil Nog did him in with those.

I'm not even looking forward to this fight. I'm just hoping Griffin wins just because I can't stand Tito Ortiz and I like Griffin.

What amazes me is... nobody has knocked the guy out. He has a BIG HEAD!

Good to see that this is finally confirmed so that they can settle this feud. I wouldn't be surprised if both fighters retire after this fight, Ortiz will almost certainly be done since this is his last fight and Griffin must be close to retiring as well since he hasn't done anything of note for sometime. Would like to see Ortiz win to go out on a high.
