It has always been like this. If anything, WWE wrestlers are now underworked. Ask Flair, he will tell you that todays schedule is like a vacation compared to those he worked in the 70's and 80's.

Like most physical activites, there are risks involved. Wrestlers will get hurt regardless of how many house shows they have to put on.

YEh. I was watching Hall Of Fame 2005 and Orndorff was saying how hard it was travelling mile sand what not to get a few bucks and it sounds harder than today, now that you mnetion it CenaMark!
