Thoughts on Sonnen's words at UFC136?

Just wondering for those who watched Sonnen's post-match talk on Anderson Silva.

UFC color commentator Joe Rogan asked Sonnen, “How happy were you with your performance tonight?"

Sonnen ignored the question and looked toward UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva in the audience and bellowed out a line as if he was auditioning for The Wrestler. “Anderson Silva, you absolutely suck,” Sonnen said. He then waited a few moments for the cheers to get louder and followed with an old-fashion pro wrestling loser-leave-town challenge.


“Super Bowl weekend, the biggest rematch in the history of the business. I’m calling you out Silva, but we’re upping the stakes.” Sonnen took another dramatic pause for the cheers to reach a feverish pitch. “I beat you, you leave the (185 lbs.) Division. You beat me, I will leave the UFC forever.”

That's what was said. I was the the local pub when I was watching UFC136 and everyone just went HOLY SHIT!

What do you think will happen if Sonnen loses to Silva, where will Sonnen go?

If Sonnen wins, what would your thoughts be on Silva leaving the division he's currently in?

Also, will this fight actually happen. Do you think Dana White will allow this match?

Dana will definitely allow this fight, it will sell well and will be promoted well. If Sonnen loses my guess is that he retires. Same goes for Anderson, he won't leave the division, he'll just retire.

Sonnen must have been a pro wrestler in a former life. This was the classic heel promo, you have something that I want and to make the deal sweeter I will retire if I can't take your belt. Wrestling Booking 101.

I believe Sonnen that he will retire if he can't beat Silva but Silva can do what he wants if he loses Sonnen doesn't control his career. Should be an awesome fight.
