Considering the massive fanbase the WWE has in the U.S. military, it really never should have gotten to the point of Orton being given more than cursory consideration for a role as a Marine in a WWE film, considering his history with the Corps. The average Marine is fanatical about being a Marine. And while they will treat with respect any civilian they come across who is not disrespectful of the Corps, they believe there is a special place in Hell for those Marines who abandon their posts and/or their brothers in the Corps. If Randy had simply gone to his CO (or the non-com that really runs the units in the Corps) and asked for a general discharge because he believed he had made a mistake, they most likely would have accommodated him. Then his casting would have gone forward without a hitch.

As it is, seriously considering him and casting him was a huge PR mistake for WWE and removing him from the role saves their butts. The first group of people they don't want to piss off is the kids. The second is the U.S. military.

By the way, I agree with Cody being a terrific person for the role, but I also feel like Miz and Alex Riley should at least be considered.

Or, of course, Daniel Bryan (BTW, Punk has too many tats. The Corps would never go for those.)
