The site doesn't have the loss to Mongo, but this debut was a few months earlier than his Goldberg debut. It was as Bill Gold, but he still won the few matches as that.

I know than that Austin KOTR win and promo are seen as the first steps towards his classic character, but it was a long time after that than he really got over. It does make me wonder what would have happened if Vader had won the tournament which I think was the original plan, or was it Triple H? Anyway one of the best KOTR PPV's from top to bottom. 02 was also pretty good, my girl Molly kicked some arse and Angle did a good job with Hogan.

Trips was supposed to win in '96, but got pulled because of the MSG Incident.

Also, '02 KOTR was a pretty poor PPV. Not just terrible or anything, but it was all pretty mediocre. The best match was the opener and the main event was pretty bad for as long as it went.

KOTR 02 had to follow 01.

Expecting someone to do some crazy shit like Shane did.

Thought that was the case, not sure he was ready for that spot at the time anyway. I was thinking Vader as I expected him to win at the time.

What match opened KOTR 02? I remember it being hit and miss, but it did have its moments.

Vader was supposed to win the WWF Title.
