Of course he does, he is WWE guy at the end of the day.
And he’s known to lie, he pretended to be offended at Russo’s Oaklahoma when they did that same exact gimmick in the WWF a year earlier with J.R. and there was zero problem, years later he wanted to act offended about it.
The bottom line is no one is ever taken off TV as champion & sent home due to contracts that aren’t up for another 6 months, that never has happened & makes no sense. She was sent home due to the affair despite making it crystal clear that she had zero problems moving on and simply wanted to keep her career.
No guy on the roster had a problem jobbing, working or taking bumps for her, yet all of sudden as soon as Stephanie is head of creative she’s placed in women’s division.
May 21, 2001 Raw is perhaps the day that the most incidents occurred in wrestling on a single day.
- Eddie Guerrero drugged up backstage and sent home.
- Chyna discovered Triple H/Stephanie affair, confronts them in a non-provoking way is provoked anyways by a lunatic Stephanie then sent home for it told that they’re gonna renegotiate her contract
- Triple H tears his quad
Based on all objective evidence my theory is this: Chyna discovered the affair, Stephanie started acting belligerent after bottled up jealousy, Chyna then responded with physical threats to which Stephanie ran to her dad.
Vince at the insistence of his daughter Stephanie since Chyna was a top money maker, their 2nd top draw, and he had a good relationship with Chyna. he’s not choosing money over his daughter, if he did Stephanie would’ve been fired from creative a month after she failed.
They have a meeting like it’s freaking high school and in order to get her to leave peacefully and not get violent in the room they tell her they’re gonna renegotiate her contract despite renegotiations not even taking place prior and not to take place anytime soon.(what other reason to bring this up now) with zero intention of renewing her contract. During the calls Chyna asks for a bit more money, not knowing it’s irrelevant because they know they’re firing her. She then gets a fax saying she’s not needed at TV despite that having nothing to do with a new post November 2001 contract and despite having the belt and that she’s fired.
WWE nor J.R. aregoing to say that she was fired because of the affair, even if he hated WWE that would open them up to wrongful termination, that’s not a good look, so of course he’s gonna say he let her go for financial reasons despite the fact that she never asked for the money he claims & her current contract & being on TV having nothing to do with a future contract.
This story just further hurts J.R.‘s look, not as much as when he lied and pretended to be offended by Russo but still.
