The Blaze Effect
Brandon Blaze
Well we're here with some more action, tonight we're going over the recent ECW show, and boy we got a show for you so let's get into it.
This show takes place from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, a very good home to ECW.
So we open the show with Shane, letting us know that we will be starting a tournament here tonight, to crown a NEWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW ECW CHAMPION! It will be filled with champions of the past. More on who is in that as we move along.
We first find out that Taz has entered into the tournament, but not only that he has promised that if he does NOT win the ECW Championship, that he will RETIRE. So, he's put a lot of pressure on himself, let's hope it's not to much for him.
First up is Rhyno vs. Bam Bam Bigelow vs. Mikey Whipwreck in the ECW World Heavyweight Championship Tournament. It lasted 14:05 and isn't much to write home about, but it was a match up that could be defined as okay. We saw Rhyno pick up the win here and move right along towards trying to claim the ECW Championship.
Chris Candido is out here, and wow the crowd was harsh to him here. A bit upset that Sunny left him and went to Raw with Buff and Val, and said he was going to dedicate this match, and every match to Sunny until she comes back to him. All I can say is yikes.
Oh and man, he really really didn't do himself any favors as he lost to Al Snow, not putting up much of a showing. I don't see many sunny days in his future.
We then cut to RVD, backstage looking in some bags, trying to find something. He gets a bit confused at not being able to find it, until he looks again finding something in one of the bags as he quickly closed the door, showing the name Big Show on the door. Really left me wondering what was going on here.
We then move onto a match of Shane Douglas vs. Sabu vs. Justin Credible, and the match really just bombed. It isn't much to write home about and I got no idea what to say about it. If you haven't seen this match, keep it that way. All that matters is Sabu picked up the win.
We now cut backstage again, once again to the Big Show's locker room, but with him in there now and finding out that his stuff has been thrown around. This pissed him off and he totally WRECKS the locker room, breaking things, showing off just how strong he is.
So after a break, we see Shane McMahon and Paul Heyman standing in the ring, talking up the show so far from tonight, that's been a bit hit or miss in my eyes. But they seem to think the show isn't going to bad. Anyway this leads to them calling out the number 1 draft pick for ECW, Chris Benoit. The crowd clearly happy to see him, someone who has a lot of history with the company. As he is cutting a promo hyping himself up as the best wrestler today, it's cut short when Eddie Guerrero's theme hits, as he makes his way out He says he's the better wrestler, and says HE should've been the number 1 draft pick. Talking about how he was the bigger star back in the old ECW, saying he was a bigger star in WCW as well.
These two get FACE to FACE. Seeming like they might go to blows when out of nowhere The Dudley Boys make their way out to the ring, the crowd clearly loving them as a loud GET THE TABLES chant starts. They say that there is to much talking and not enough action, wanting to remind them what extreme is. They lay down the challenge for a tables match, as Eddie and Chris agree to the match.
Now what a match this was, really probably one of the better ones of the night, the fans really enjoying it as these two teams really went at it with each other. The downside, was Eddie and Chris not being able to get along with was what cause them to lose in the end, not being able to exactly get on the same page.
Final opinon of this show, it could've been better but it also could've been way worse. I got to give it to them, they really did some good work and I look forward to seeing them improve on some things come next week.
