I feel like WWE has sorta made it so people are always looking to have big rosters rather than a more intimate smaller roster with jobber appearances like in the olden days. Which is fair tbh.

I think the biggest issue is the parity between talent levels in modern-day wrestling. Everyone is pretty on-par with one another so it becomes a matter of personal taste wrt booking people. At least in the 90s and 80s, there was a pretty big divide between the best and the rest.

Honestly, I’d probably love WWE just as much as AEW if they booked their roster better. That and shared talent instead of divide the roster into 4 shows. Before the mass releases the last two years, they probably had 200 of the most talented workers ever. Just needed better booking.
