They were always there, just nobody cared enough to talk about them because she was never really featured. Small stories here and there, but nobody spread the stories. Once that small population heard about this though, they spread those sources to people, then both parties talked about it, then even more people heard about it, ect. Typically nobody ever talks about things until it becomes relevant
