Pancakes = racism
But what is this then? I don't remember anyone complaining about this:

Sure it was kayfabe but come on now.

Didn't the we the people/Zeb angle make the news? I think the situations are a tad different. Zeb and Swagger were doing a xenophobic gimmick to intentionally get heat, WWE had to be aware at the time that majority of their demographic was Hispanic and immigration is always a hot-button issue.

(Provided this podcast is on to something)This New Day situation is alot more subtle. Odds are not alot of people would know about the book and would just take look at the pancake gimmick as another wacky new day idea...which it probably is.

I don't remember it making the news but it may have. I get your point but I was just showing the major gap between the two and I don't remember anyone online complaining about Zeb's run. Eventually he did team with ADR which could be because of bad press. Either way, this is just an example of taking something and assuming the worst with no valid proof.

This is one of the silliest things I have heard.

I've read the book before. It's odd because the actual book is about a kid from India. It's only in certain counterfeit editions that Sambo takes on racist stereotypes against blacks in the illustrations. However, Sambo gets pancakes at the end of the book after he survives an encounter with some tigers (who turn to butter for some reason).

It is a stretch to take that and say the New Day doing shit with pancakes has anything to do with this book. In fact, it's one of the biggest stretches I have ever heard. And I doubt the New Day would go along with it even if it were.

I actually grew up with my grandmother reading that book to me. Ignorant people assume the book is about blacks and racism in the US when in fact it is not. It is set in India and deals with a little Indian boy and a tiger.

As for the pancakes I think that’s just new day being silly.
