They could have done a better Gargamel. The CGI Smurf looked honest. It was cool because I was able to meet one of the Smurf cartoon directors during career day in middle school Fucking awesome gentleman, he was also a director and writter for Rocky and Bullwinkle, which is probably the most under rated cartoon ever. And he also created the Raid roaches.

But you know what really bothered me most about the Smurfs? Not the fact that there was only one female amongst thousands of males, or that they used one word as a verb, noun and adjective. It was how fucking stupid Gargamel was. I mean he is like in the top 5 in "The Stupidest Cartoon Villains" list. I mean, first he wants to desperately eat blue people. I mean they ALWAYS ran into their mushrooms. Why didn't he just rip the mushrooms from the ground and eat those? I mean he could have made some tasty fried mushrooms, or cream of mushroom soup.Or at the very least, if they were psychedelic he could have gone on a fantastic voyage. And most importantly it leaves his arch enemies and food supply homeless and gives them nowhere to retreat when he chases them. Or at the very least use that thing called a NET. What a dumbfuck.

I have to say, I am totally going to see this. As a kid I fucking loved The Smurfs.

What Enzo said is totally true... Pretty dumb now that I think about it.

Snorks FTW.

I love that show, the older cartoons PWN the fuck out of the shit now. When I was a kid I loved Boomerang, the channel that plays all the older cartoons. I still watch it from time to time. Even as a kid growing up in the Cartoon Network and Nick heyday I sometimes would rather watch older 1980's cartoons lol.

But Cow and Chicken is one of the funniest cartoons EVER!!!!!!!!

There was some raunchy stuff in Cow and Chicken. The Red Guy was pretty hardcore homo erotic.

When I used to eat mushrooms by the handful I'd watch the fuck out of Cow and Chicken and Ren and Stimpy tapes. With a clear mind, Dexter's Lab fucking owns Cow and Chicken. Courage the Cowardly Dog was solid too and in all seriousness, the Power Puff Girls was a really funny cartoon. MoJo Jojo was the shizzle.

Man back when I was in grade school there were some awesome cartoons:

Cow & Chicken
Ren & Stimpy
Dexter's Labratory
The FUCKING Rugrats (and not the all Grown Up bullshit they did)
Hey Arnold
Courage The Cowardly Dog
AHHH!! Real Monsters
Rocko's Modern Life
Ed, Edd & Eddy

Cartoons nowadays are just weird.

And Enzo, yeah I have do admit The Powderpuff Girls was pretty cool. Despite it being looked as as a "girls" show I would watch it all the time.

The first like 5 or so seasons of the Rugrats are classic. Things got stinky the seasons before and after Dill then it really went to shit.

Cartoons for the better part have sucked since about 2002. Ed, Edd and Eddy was the true cartoon's last hurrah. Nowadays kids are subjected to lame shit like Chowder. I remember, even into my early 20's, daytime Cartoon Network was like my second or third favorite channel, now it sucks fat nuts. And now the classic toon stations, like Boomerang and Nicktoons only play all the reject stuff from the earlier parts of the past decade. The only good toon on CN is Tom and Jerry. Adult Swim is a different thing though...

Ed, Edd & Eddy was really the last true great cartoon, alongside Courage the Cowardly Dog. Ofter that they really started to get stale and a bunch of rehashes of the same damn show. But I have to admit that the one show with the Grim Reaper, can't remember the name of it was funny at times.

I think the best thing about alot of the cartoons I watched as a kid was really the more mature undertones that most kids never caught, Johnny Bravo for example, that is stalking 101. If anybody really did half of the shit he did they would be locked up instantly.

Last quality cartoon I've seen was Ben 10, then they made it into a spinoff, then it was crap.

Nickelodeon is pretty much known for their tongue-in-cheek humour. If you go back and watch the same shows today, you'll some of dirty dirty jokes. I don't even know what kids are watching today that doesn't involve super heroes.
