I grew up in rural Minnesota where hunting and fishing is a regular thing and half the population owns guns. Of course shit like far-right talking points is gonna poison people that fundamental rights for these groups of people is bad when they use buzz words like "Woke". The Catholic church is one of the biggest offenders too.

I just find it odd that you would use an ar15 for hunting - but they won't consider even banning assault rifles or even more sturdy background checks. it's a fundamental right to buy something used to kill other people in your country though. I will never understand how anyone could look at it that way and be like ya this is totally fine. fear is a hell of a drug I guess.

There should be a vast increase in mental health funding for any program looking to make a difference in that area. We also need to make access to mental health easier for people going all the way back to high school and university level with potential government funding, allowing them to get it at no cost if needed. Potentially, even some kind of red flag programs were schools and workplaces can even recommend that the state look into somebody for possible mental health evaluation. There’ll need to be safe guards, so this can’t be abused against anyone’s rights, but worth trying to figure.

There also needs to be better screenings for mental health when it comes to background checks. How to implement that fairly is a harder question but it’s one that should be asked and looked into.

The issue is we're both talking about a hypothetical scenario that isn't going to happen.

I just believe my scenario would be much more stabilizing. Cut down the military industrial complex that glorifies and monopolizes on weapons production and shift towards actually taking care of the citizens.

You already know my philosophy on what a government's relationship to its citizens should be. A government should be regarded on how well it treats its poorest citizens.
